Hi, I’m Jason. I started exploring mindfulness meditation in 2008, the same way someone might pick up improv or salsa dancing: I was bored and lonely after a breakup. At the time, I was insecure, stifled in my career, and unable to set boundaries in relationship. I wasn’t even aware of how far my life was from where I wanted it to be—I think it would have hurt too much to admit it.

The message I got from mindfulness gave me deep relief: I could just rest and observe things as they are, rather than trying to fix or change myself. The change would come on it’s own.

To some extent, this was true, but in certain areas of life, integrating mindfulness wasn't as simple as I had hoped. I expanded my exploration into social psychology and attachment theory, to try to bridge meditation with the stuff that makes relationships work. In the process, I also discovered my creative passion and mustered the courage to pursue it. All this—the intersection between meditation and a rich, fulfilling life—is what I now teach.

Drawing from extensive training with the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center and Buddhist teachers Noah Levine, George Haas, and Shinzen Young, my approach is a dynamic, holistic exploration of what you actually want out of your life and how to use mindfulness to dissolve what gets in the way.

This exploration happens through a consistent formal meditation practice and an ongoing dialog with me over Skype or phone—usually every two weeks. You supply the willingness. I supply the accountability, as many guided meditation recordings as you want, and a sounding board as you apply your insights to the challenges you face.

If this method sounds appealing to you, come give it a try!
