Intercessory Prayer Meditation

Intercessory prayer reflects God's character of love and mercy. God wants us to become more like him, and praying for others helps us to think of and be more compassionate towards others. Even when facing death, Jesus was praying for others. Join me today as we pray and meditate.

Hello and welcome to meditation time. My name is James Whitaker. This meditation can be done either seated or lying down as long as you are comfortable. Today we will learn to pray in intercession for others in a meditation format and learn why it's important. Intercessory prayer reflects God's character of love and mercy. God wants us to become more like him and praying for others helps us to think of and to grow to be more compassionate towards others. Even when facing death Jesus was praying for others. John 17 18 to 20 says, Just as you sent me into the world I am sending them into the world and I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth. I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. Jesus Christ is our intercessor. He lived a life of trials and challenges so he understands what we are going through. He is at our side and can sympathize with our weaknesses and he makes it possible for us to receive the mercy and help we need. In 1st Timothy 2 1 to 2 it says, Most of all I'm writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayer and requests as you intercede with intense passion and pray for every political leader and representative so that we would be able to live tranquil undisturbed lives as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. This verse doesn't just say pray and intercede for others it says to do it with intense passion. We are now going to do some breathing as we transition into a time of prayer and meditation to slow things down. In through your nose long and deep out through your mouth long and slow. In through your nose long and deep out through your mouth long and slow. Gently close your eyes. In through your nose long and deep out through your mouth long and slow. In through your nose long and deep out through your mouth long and slow. Let your breathing return to its normal rhythm. If you find yourself distracted during the meditation you can return to this breath exercise. Keep your eyes closed and your body relaxed. Dear Heavenly Father thank you for another day. We come together today to learn and spend some time praying for others. May you bless the time each of us spend with you praying. In Jesus name amen. Let's take a moment here. Picture someone you know who you feel needs praying. Go with the first image that pops into your head. Try to get a really clear image. Okay now that we know who we are praying for keep them in your mind. Over the next five minutes pray for that person. Pray for them in every way you can think of and lift them up. You you you you you you you you you you let's close in prayer dear Heavenly Father thank you for all those you have placed in our lives and those who will still meet. We thank you that you listen to our prayers and care for us all. May we move forward with a greater empathy for others. In Jesus name amen. I hope you all have an amazing day. God bless.
