Good evening and welcome to meditation time.

Tonight we will start with prayer and then some breathing to slow ourselves down.

Then I will be reading a selection of verses from the book of Jeremiah to help calm your heart and mind before sleep.

I will be using the New Living translation.

After the verses,

The music will continue.

Have a pleasant and peaceful sleep.

Let's pray.

Let's do some breathing.

In through your nose,

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

Gently close your eyes.

In through your nose,

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

In through your nose,

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

In through your nose,

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

In through your nose,

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth,

Long and slow.

Let your breathing return to its normal rhythm.

Jeremiah 1,

5 to 9.

I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb.

Before you were born,

I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.

O sovereign Lord,

I said,

I can't speak for you.

I'm too young.

The Lord replied,

Don't say I'm too young,

For you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.

And don't be afraid of the people,

For I will be with you and will protect you.

I the Lord have spoken.

Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said,

Look,

I have put my words in your mouth.

Jeremiah 6,

16.

This is what the Lord says.

Stop at the crossroads and look around.

Ask for the old godly way and walk in it.

Travel its path and you will find rest for your souls.

But you reply,

No,

That's not the road we want.

Jeremiah 15,

16.

When I discovered your words,

I devoured them.

They are my joy and my heart's delight.

For I bear your name,

O Lord God of heaven's armies.

Jeremiah 17,

7 to 8.

But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.

They are like trees planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water.

Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by the long months of drought.

Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit.

Jeremiah 29,

11 to 14.

For I know the plans I have for you,

Says the Lord.

They are plans for your good and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.

In those days when you pray,

I will listen.

If you look for me wholeheartedly,

You will find me.

I will be found by you,

Says the Lord.

I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes.

I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and bring you home again to your own land.

Jeremiah 31,

3.

Long ago the Lord said to Israel,

I have loved you,

My people,

With an everlasting love.

With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.

Amen.

For I know the plans I have for you,

Says the Lord.

They are plans for your good and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.

I will be found by you,

My people,

By your own land.

I will be found by you,

My people,

By your own land.

I will be found by you,

My people,

By your own land.

You You You You You You You You You
