Good evening and welcome to meditation time.

Tonight we will start with prayer and then some breathing to slow ourselves down.

Then I will be reading a collection of comforting Bible verses from the book of Psalms to calm your heart and mind before sleep.

I will be using the New Living translation.

After the verses the music will continue.

Have a pleasant and peaceful sleep.

Let's pray.

Let's do some breathing.

Long and slow.

Gently close your eyes.

In through your nose.

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth.

Long and slow.

In through your nose.

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth.

Long and slow.

In through your nose.

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth.

Long and slow.

In through your nose.

Long and deep.

Out through your mouth.

Long and slow.

Let your breathing return to its normal rhythm.

Psalm 27.

1 Let the ocean roar and foam.

Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge.

Psalm 32,

7 and 8.

For you are my hiding place.

You protect me from trouble.

You surround me with songs of victory.

The Lord says,

I will guide you along the best path for your life.

I will advise you and watch over you.

Psalm 46,

10.

Be still and know that I am God.

I will be honoured by every nation.

I will be honoured throughout the world.

Psalm 119,

76 and 77.

Now let your unfailing love comfort me,

Just as you promised me your servant.

Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live.

For your instructions are my delight.

Psalm 121.

I look up to the mountains.

Does my help come from there?

My help comes from the Lord,

Who made heaven and earth.

He will not let you stumble.

The one who watches over you will not slumber.

Indeed,

He who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.

The Lord himself watches over you.

The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.

The sun will not harm you by day,

Nor the moon at night.

The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.

The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,

Both now and forever.

Psalm 23.

The Lord is my shepherd.

I have all that I need.

He lets me rest in green meadows.

He leads me beside peaceful streams.

He renews my strength.

He guides me along right paths,

Bringing honour to his name.

Even when I walk through the darkest valley,

I will not be afraid,

For you are close beside me.

Your rod and your staff protect me and comfort me.

You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.

You honour me by anointing my head with oil.

My cup overflows with blessings.

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life,

And I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Amen.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

The Lord.
