What Prevents Self-awareness?

Welcome to the Insight Talk.

I am Jamaluddin.

Today we are going to discuss what Prevents Self-awareness in us.

If you observe carefully,

Whenever we try to be self-aware of our experiences,

We are distracted and misled by our own mind.

We have an obedience to which our awareness and mind work.

But sometimes when we are agitated in the mind,

We break this obedience between mind and awareness.

When we break this obedience,

Our cognition or the ability to understand is affected.

So to the mind we understand and the retained understandings we have is our awareness.

When we don't allow the connection between the mind and the self-awareness,

That is when the problem starts.

That is when we force the mind to work in isolation.

The mind as a tool for reasoning and understanding is a great tool.

But it cannot be aware,

It cannot become aware of the feelings.

It can only reason and understand.

We can only feel through our self-awareness.

So when we push the mind and isolate it,

Assuming that our thinking,

Reasoning and believing in mind will help us to feel the things.

And this misunderstanding that we can be aware and feel our self or we can understand completely with only with the mind,

What is what stress us to isolate the mind and lose the connection.

And when we try only to understand the situation with the mind,

Not bringing the self-awareness to feel it,

That is when we do not enrich our self with calmness because when we in the mind we need the results very fast,

It needs quick results.

But our self-awareness is ready to feel the situation.

It is ready to be aware and understand deeply.

But mind if you are thinking,

If you are reasoning,

If you are too much logical,

You need the answers,

You need information.

And that creates distress,

That is the major problem for the stress.

And for a mind which is isolated and which is thinking harder,

Reasoning harder to understand the situation without awareness,

That is when the mind is really stressed.

And when it tries to understand,

It doesn't have to have a connection with existing awareness and it becomes stressful because it is not getting the awareness it needs but it is working hard to connect to things but it cannot understand,

That is when we are stressed.

So an agitated and stressed mind cannot work efficiently,

Neither it can connect with the already existing awareness.

As there is no right connection with awareness,

The mind which is agitated or stressful is always unaware about its existence.

It is unmindful and in that position that agitated mind,

The stressed mind doesn't know if it is calm,

It can access awareness about the situation.

And when this connection is dropped or severed,

When the mind started to create beliefs,

That is when we create blind beliefs in the mind,

Because we no longer have access to proper cognition,

We no longer have awareness about the situation.

So the mind pushes us to believe in things.

And when a mind starts to believe rather than understand the situation,

That is when we are preventing our awareness,

That is when we are becoming unaware and we are trying to be what the mind believes.

This is the wisdom of self awareness in the chapter 107 of the Quran.
