I am looking really forward to today's episode because it's probably my favorite chakra.
I'm going to be chatting about the five common blocks in the throat chakra of your business.
I was known for a while as the throat chakra queen because that was my focus in my work,
Particularly the throat chakra of entrepreneurs,
Of the business owners,
And I still find it fascinating to work with my clients on their throat chakra as well as the throat chakra of their business because as soon as you decide to go into business and you have to start promoting yourself and sharing your gifts and sharing what you offer and sharing what you charge,
Oh my gosh,
Don't the throat chakra blocks come out to play and I'm sure you will have experienced this at some point in your business journey.
So I'm going to have to contain myself a little bit today because I could probably easily do a 40-minute podcast on this topic.
So I'll restrain myself and keep it down to the essentials for you.
So when your throat is open and aligned,
You'll find that you speak,
You listen,
And you express yourself from a place of inner truth.
And this isn't easy.
Often we fall into the pattern of being accommodating,
Saying what we think the other person wants to hear because we fear that we won't be accepted or our opinion won't be accepted or our beliefs or our thoughts,
Or we fear that that other person might judge us if we're honest.
We've been programmed by society,
By our education system,
And very often by our families to hold back on expressing our heart's authentic message.
Now I talked about this a lot more in episode 28 in the five common blocks in the heart chakra of your business,
But we can be so fearful of expressing our authentic message,
What our heart feels passionate about that often by the time we're adults,
We only have vague memories of what that actually is.
What is my heart's authentic message?
You know,
It's pretty much been drilled out of us by the time we get to adulthood.
We've been told what to think,
What to believe,
What's the right way for us to behave and show up in society and express ourselves in society.
So it can be a real journey to go back to discover what is in our heart and how do we express that.
I actually feel that what many people refer to as life purpose is simply,
If you want to simplify the whole thing,
It's simply your heart's true voice expressed through your throat chakra.
Think about that,
That being your life purpose to give true and authentic expression to who you are.
Your throat is the bridge between your inner world and the outside world.
And depending on what crosses that bridge is how you're perceived by the outside world.
So if you don't feel like you're perceived correctly,
It's because you're holding back parts of yourself and your truth.
And this is creating the energetic blocks in your throat chakra.
So when we connect this in with business,
Your business message is expressed through the throat chakra of your business.
This is where the essence of the heart of you and your business is communicated to the world through your business's throat chakra.
Now every time you hold back the truth or you don't express a part of yourself,
Your throat blocks up and you're misheard or you're not heard at all.
Now remember,
You are the spokesperson for your business.
So the throat chakra of your business is very closely linked with yours.
So let's dive into the blocks that I see in a business's throat chakra.
I've narrowed it down to five.
In some cases,
I've probably squeezed two in because there were so many.
But I wanted to keep it at five,
To keep it simple,
As I said,
And to keep this episode to a listenable length.
So let's start with number one.
Block number one is the most common block that I see in a business's throat chakra.
And that is when the copy of the business is written in a professional way or in the voice of a coach or a mentor or a copywriter,
Rather than the business owner's voice.
This is so common,
Especially when it comes to websites.
So what do I mean by professional way?
Well,
If you've ever worked in corporate or in any really professional industry,
I mean,
Even in sort of health industries where you have to write reports and whatever you're writing really,
But you have a certain voice that you have to write it in.
And it's almost like you are not allowed emotion into your writing.
And you've got to pretend to be whatever your profession is.
You've got to embody that energy and that voice.
Now,
If you've worked in this way and then you create your own business and your business is really demanding of you that you find your voice and speak in your voice through the business,
It can be really challenging to do.
And I've had many,
Many clients talk about the difficulty they've had with letting go of that professional voice.
And as I said,
This most commonly comes across on websites.
So if you have a website,
Go through,
Read it and just read it almost in observer mode,
Let's say,
And look at it and go,
Does that sound like my voice?
Is that the way I would say that?
If I was speaking to someone,
Would I say it in that way?
Because your throat chakra often communicates more true to you when you're speaking than when you're writing.
Writing,
You tend to edit.
Writing almost goes up through the mind before it comes down through the throat chakra.
Now,
This happens when speaking as well.
But I find in terms of getting your authentic style,
It's much easier to do speaking,
Even if it's just speaking to yourself and recording it,
And then having it transcribed and looking at the way that you've spoken about something.
To put that as your website copy is much more true to you and to your heart energy than writing it with the mind strongly filtering what you write.
And then if you go and take what you're writing and copy someone else's style or someone else's words or phrases,
Or as I said,
Have a copywriter write it for you who is trying to capture your essence,
But they can never ever write with your heart because they don't have your passion.
They don't have the business's heart energy as part of their energy.
And so it can become distant from you.
It loses so much of the energy of your throat chakra and the energy of your heart.
Now,
This can happen with all your copy,
But I particularly find it with websites.
So have a look at all the copy you're writing,
All the marketing material,
And just say,
Is this my true voice or have I copied someone here?
And I don't mean that in a all you copycat type of way,
But that's how we learn often.
We look at how it's been done.
We look at what's been successful.
We might do a course where someone guides us through on how to write our copy,
But we just lose our heart in that.
Okay,
We've got a filter on our throat chakra and this,
Because we're writing for the business,
This really affects the business's throat chakra.
A second block that I see,
And interestingly,
This block actually triggers me a little bit.
It's obviously a very important part of my throat chakra,
My business's throat chakra.
And this is hiding your prices,
Hiding your testimonials,
Downplaying your expertise.
This is blocking up your business's throat chakra.
If your prices are not on display and easy to see,
You are hiding something from your clients.
And I know it's a marketing strategy,
But it puts a block on your business's throat chakra.
It's not being authentic.
It's not being upfront and honest.
And if you have a fear associated with showing your prices or you're playing a game to get people to come through to a certain point before they see that price,
Whether that's a conversation with you or just having to click many links,
That is being secretive.
That is putting a block on your business's throat chakra as well as your throat chakra.
I know this is a common tactic,
But please tune in.
Does it feel right for you?
Why are you not displaying your prices?
Likewise with your testimonials,
Why are you not sharing the praise you receive,
The praise your business receives?
What are you afraid of?
Why are you not allowing this expression through your business?
Because this is actually a really important part of your business's solar plexus chakra as well,
Which I talked about in episode 25.
So prices,
Testimonials,
And as I said,
A third aspect of that is just downplaying your expertise.
And by expertise,
I don't mean credentials at all.
What I mean is your experience,
Your wisdom,
You know,
Not sharing that,
Not making that available to your audience,
Not sharing the gifts that your business has with your audience.
So I hope that's got you thinking and maybe that there's a couple of tweaks you can make there around being more authentic and honest in how you show up and in sharing why you're amazing.
I mean,
That's at the end of the day,
That's it.
It's why are you amazing?
What are your gifts?
How are you serving?
And it's just really important for the throat chakra of your business that you do give expression to your gifts and your worth.
Now,
The third block I want to talk about ties in with that a little bit.
It's about resisting putting promotional material out there,
Like almost like expecting your clients to just find you.
Won't they be just energetically attracted to me?
You know,
The universe will lead them to me and so on.
Now,
Yeah,
Yeah,
But it also requires some action from you.
And that action is about promoting yourself,
Promoting your gifts as I was just talking about.
You have to advertise yourself.
You're in a business,
You've created a business,
Marketing's part of that business.
That's just it.
That's just how it is.
And all marketing is,
Is you sharing your gifts.
That's it.
Showing up,
Opening your throat chakra,
Talking about what you provide and how you can support people and in what way you support them.
So how might you avoid this?
Well,
If you use social media,
You might be avoiding posting,
You might be avoiding showing up and showing up live.
Now,
Showing up live may not be a thing.
That's okay.
But are you posting then if that's your thing?
Are you writing blogs if that's your thing?
Like what is your thing and are you doing it or are you hiding from it?
So obviously,
If you're hiding from it,
I mean,
The poor throat chakra of your business doesn't stand a chance.
It wants to express how it can help others.
It wants to express why it's a business.
And you've got like,
It's almost like a contract with the business to be the spokesperson for it.
You're,
It's relying on you to do this for it.
So are you sharing it?
Are you putting it out there?
Are you expressing it?
And another block that I can see in the throat chakra associated with this is when there is client confusion about what those offers are.
So it's one thing about putting those offers out,
But is there a consistency as well in what those offers are?
Is there a consistency in your presence?
Is it there a consistency in the energy of your business that goes out there?
Or does this post put out a different energy and a different offering to that post,
To that post,
To that post?
Does your website project a different message to your Facebook post?
Like is there a lack of consistency there?
This also ties in with the solar plexus chakra and it ties in also with the base chakra because this builds trust,
This consistency.
But if there is not that consistency in your message,
This will create client confusion and it does create blocks in the throat chakra of the business.
Okay,
Number four,
Perfectionism.
Perfectionism creates blocks in the throat chakra for you and also for your business.
In many ways,
Perfectionism ties in with what I was talking about in number one,
Where you are trying to almost eliminate your true voice by overusing your mind to create this ideal expression that actually doesn't exist.
But what it does is take away your authenticity.
The more you tweak copy,
The more I edit a podcast,
You know,
The more that the mind comes in to change the way something is expressed,
The more of the heart is taken away from that expression,
The less your clients get to hear or read your true energy.
So if perfectionism is something that you have been known to indulge in now and again,
Hand up,
I've been there.
I don't tend to go there so much anymore,
Probably all the work I've done in my throat chakra in the last few years.
But just be aware that that is undermining your authentic voice and it's also stopping you from getting the message out there.
At the time when you're inspired to get a message out,
You know,
If you're inspired to share something and then you take weeks to put that thing together or write that post or whatever it is,
You are actually denying,
You're not taking action on that inspiration.
And it's almost like the energy for it can pass.
And so when you get the inspiration,
Get it out there,
Get it out there,
Authentically communicate it and don't put it through 20 filters before it gets out there.
Because one,
That time for the inspired action could have passed and two,
It's not your voice that gets out there in the end.
So really watch this tendency to perfectionism.
Number five is an interesting aspect of the throat chakra.
And I want to put this in because we often don't think about this side of the throat chakra.
We think about it as being the communication side,
The creative expression side,
You know,
Because that's what the throat chakra is about.
It gives expression to what's created in the sacral chakra.
But actually,
That's the yang side to the throat chakra,
That expression.
The yin side of the throat chakra is the listening.
And where a business can get blocked is that it doesn't feel heard.
It doesn't feel heard by you.
And this is why I talk all the time about communicating with your business,
Seeing it as a separate entity,
Doing a little meet your business visualization regularly,
Ideally,
Each day before you start work,
Connecting in with your business,
Asking it its guidance,
Asking it what's important,
Asking its help in making a decision.
Your business feels heard.
That supports your business's throat chakra.
So you're not just telling your business all the time,
You are listening to your business as well.
Vital for any good relationship.
Just like if you are working with a client,
You listen as much as you give.
You know,
There's a balance in the yin and yang of the throat chakra.
And if there's not,
That relationship will not last very long.
It's the same with your business.
If you want to create the best possible relationship with your business,
Make sure you are listening to your business.
Now,
As you would have been able to tell from me talking about all these examples,
They're very much to do with your throat chakra as well.
And it just shows the impact that your throat chakra blocks,
The stories and beliefs held in your throat chakra,
How that can affect your business and the communication of your business's energy.
So I hope that you have learned some valuable tips from this.
Next week,
I'm going to give you a meditation on the throat chakra.
So you can work on some of the things I've shared with you this week.
And then next week,
You'll get the meditation to really create some big energetic shifts in your throat chakra.
Until then,
Have an alchemical week in your biz.
