In this practice,
We'll explore purpose and intention together.
Most structures begin with a blueprint.
Not a rigid plan for how everything must unfold.
But an underlying vision.
That gives direction and meaning to what is built.
In much the same way,
Our lives are often guided by deeper values,
Longings,
And intentions.
Sometimes they feel clear.
Sometimes they feel distant.
And sometimes they become buried.
Beneath the busyness of daily life.
This practice offers an opportunity to pause and reconnect with what matters most.
Not by forcing answers.
Not by trying to figure anything out.
But by listening.
In many traditions of Yoga Nidra.
This deeper orientation is known as a Sankalpa.
While there may be different ways of understanding Sankalpa,
It's often described as a heartfelt intention.
That arises from our deepest values.
Longings,
And sense of purpose.
Today.
Rather than trying to create something new.
You're invited to listen for what may already be present within you.
Finding a comfortable position now.
Allow your body to settle in whatever way feels supportive.
There's nowhere you need to get to.
Nothing you need to accomplish.
Arriving as you are.
Bring your attention toward the center of your chest.
Your heart center.
Not necessarily the physical heart,
But the space many traditions associate with meaning,
Connection,
And what matters most.
You might imagine this space as the foundation of a home.
The ground upon which everything else rests.
Take a few moments here.
Listening.
Sensing.
.
.
Allowing the breath to carry you.
Not searching for answers,
But becoming curious.
You might gently ask yourself,
What matters most to me right now?
What is calling me forward?
What am I longing to nurture,
Remember,
Or reconnect with?
Allow whatever arises to arise.
Words.
Images.
Feelings,
Sensations.
Or perhaps nothing clear at all.
There's no right experience.
Sometimes purpose arrives as a knowing.
Sometimes as a feeling.
And sometimes as a quiet unfolding over time.
Simply remain open to whatever is here for you right now as you connect with your purpose.
Now imagine a gentle light or thread extending from your heart center toward the space behind your forehead.
As though the wisdom of your heart is informing the clarity of your mind.
If purpose is the deeper blueprint,
Intentions can be understood as one way that blueprint expresses itself in daily life.
Not as a goal.
Not a demand.
Not something to achieve.
But a quality of being that you wish to embody.
A way of relating to yourself,
Others,
And life.
You might gently ask.
What intention would support me at this time?
Perhaps it's trust.
Compassion.
Courage.
Patience.
Curiosity.
Openness.
Or perhaps something entirely your own.
Allow any intentions to arise naturally.
Holding them lightly.
Like a compass.
Rather than a destination.
A gentle orientation.
Rather than a fixed plan.
Now sensing both together.
The deeper foundation of purpose.
And the guiding direction of intentions.
Notice how you experience each of them within your body.
Maybe as sensation.
Maybe as energy.
Maybe simply a felt sense.
Notice that neither requires certainty.
Both can guide us even when the path ahead remains unknown.
Just as a blueprint does not dictate every detail of a structure.
Purpose and intention don't determine exactly how life will unfold.
Instead,
They offer orientation.
Helping us return again and again to what matters most.
Rest here for a few moments.
Allowing these reflections and knowings to settle naturally within you.
Begin to notice the support of the surface beneath you.
Notice the natural rhythm of your breath.
Notice the room around you.
Perhaps carrying forward a deeper connection to what matters most.
And trusting that what is meant to unfold can continue unfolding in its own time.
When you are ready,
Gently reawaken the body.
Inviting small movements into the fingers and toes.
And slowly opening the eyes.
Welcome back.
