Hi,
My name is Jordana.
Welcome to this meditation for setting intentions in times of uncertainty.
Uncertainty is actually quite matter-of-fact.
We've all heard the saying that the only constant is change.
Yes,
Change is certain.
But how change affects our world,
Our lives,
And who we know ourselves to be?
That is what we can't be completely certain about.
And so what is commonly left in the wake of realizing change and the uncertainty of it is worry,
Or restlessness,
Fear,
Or anxiety,
Even sadness.
On the other hand,
Uncertainty can also elicit emotions of excitement,
Imagination,
Creativity,
And skilled action.
The emotions we feel,
Emotion,
It's energy in motion.
Even this emotion has energy in it to transform.
And we have the opportunity to examine our own emotions around uncertainty and then to choose what we can be certain of.
And that is,
How do we want to be?
This is our personal intention to guide our way through.
So we'll begin with a practice of opening our awareness.
We'll begin to notice what emotions are present in the face of our own uncertainties and find a comfortable way to sit for this meditation.
You can do any adjusting that you need now until you can find a place of stillness,
Sitting in both a relaxed but aware manner.
And taking a deep breath,
Fill up the belly.
And across the heart,
And then let it go.
Let this breath bring you into your body,
Into this practice.
Leaving behind whatever has happened before now and arriving in this moment.
Become aware of your breath.
Without changing anything about your breath,
Notice that you are breathing.
Notice the breath flowing in through your nostrils and the breath moving out through your nostrils.
So you might have noticed that your awareness moved into a thought or a stream of thoughts.
Maybe there's even an energy to your thoughts that you have felt in your body over the last minute or so.
Let's give ourselves permission to notice and to feel any emotion that is arising.
And see if as you do,
You can do it without beating yourself up in any way for feeling what you feel.
Can you remove judgment from this equation?
Maybe you even let your body melt a little bit into the feeling of what's here.
And if anything that you feel becomes too much,
You can feel it.
Too intense.
It's no problem.
Simply return to your breathing.
Find a place of center in the breath and only return to open yourself to the feeling that's here when you're ready.
Now practice meditation….
