Hello and welcome.
I am Ipek Williamson.
Transformation strategist,
Meditation teacher,
And leadership partner.
And today's conversation is specifically for the driven ones.
The achievers.
The people who have built their lives on output,
On excellence.
On the deep satisfaction of getting things done.
I've been there and I see you.
And I have something important to say to you.
You are exceptional at doing it.
That's real.
That capacity,
The ability to set a direction,
Build a plan.
Execute with consistency.
Produce results is really,
Really remarkable.
And it has gotten you where you are right now.
It's something to genuinely respect.
And acknowledge.
And now.
.
.
I want to ask you a question that might feel a little uncomfortable.
Who are you when the list is all done?
Or many high performers?
The honest answer is They don't know.
Because the list is never actually done.
There is always The next goal.
.
.
The next project.
The next level to achieve.
The doing has become so constant,
So all-encompassing,
So definitional that the being underneath it has become almost invisible.
Being versus doing is one of the most important distinctions.
Our work with in coaching.
And one of the most consistently undervalued by people who are very good at the world's definition of success.
Here is what the distinction actually means.
Doing is the actions you take.
The work,
The task.
The responsibilities,
The output.
It's necessary.
It's real.
It matters.
Being,
On the other hand,
Is the state you are in.
While you take those actions.
The energy beneath the behavior.
The quality of your presence.
That you bring to the doing.
And here is the part most people miss.
You can do the exact same action.
From two completely different states of being.
And the experience.
The quality.
And over time the result will be entirely different.
The same email can be written from a place of genuine care and clarity.
Or from a place of depletion and anxiety.
The same presentation.
Can be delivered from a place of authentic confidence.
From a place of proving?
And performing.
The same decision.
Can be made from a place of aligned judgment.
Or from a place of reactive fear.
The actions look identical from the outside.
The human experience is.
.
.
Completely different.
And the downstream effect.
On your relationship.
Your creativity,
Your health.
And the people around you.
Diverge significantly.
Over time.
The being-first approach.
Doesn't ask you to do less.
Many of the people I work with who are most grounded in their being are also among the most productive.
But they are productive.
In a way that is sustainable.
In a way.
That doesn't require them to burn themselves down.
To fuel the output.
So here is the question.
Worth sitting with.
Where in your work and life.
Are you operating primarily from doing?
From momentum,
From habit,
From the pressure to keep going.
Rather than.
From a genuine teacher.
Grounded.
Present sense of who you are.
And what you are actually here to create.
And what would shift?
If you brought even 5% more of your being.
Into these spaces.
Try this.
Before your next significant task or meeting,
Take one minute.
Just once.
Breathe slowly.
Ask yourself.
Who do I want to be?
In this interaction.
Not what do I want to achieve.
Who do I want to be?
And let that answer inform how you enter.
Notice the difference.
Pour a deeper practice in this.
I have a meditation called Rooted in the Earth.
Reaching for the sky on Insight Timer,
A practice designed to help you access that grounded,
Expansive state that high performers describe as their clearest,
Most powerful mode of operating.
And let's talk equanimity.
Cultivating inner calm is also there for the moment.
When you most need to return to yourself.
You are not a human doing.
You are a human being.
And the most extraordinary version of your work.
From the most fully inhabited version of you.
Thank you for listening to me.
And have a lovely day!
