Welcome to today's short meditation on letting go.
So often in our day-to-day life we become mentally tangled up in everything that's going on around us.
We may want to control this situation or that.
We might get deeply emotionally invested in whether something goes one way or another.
But letting go allows us to step back so we can see our world from a wider perspective.
When we distance ourselves from the world around us or drop what's not working altogether,
We can tune into our inner knowing where we have access to divine guidance,
Strength,
And wisdom that aren't available when we're deeply entrenched in our outer conditions.
So let's begin.
Start by releasing any tension in your shoulders and try to bring your whole body into a state of total relaxation.
And close your eyes.
See if you can let go of whatever's come before this moment and anything that's coming after as you gently ease into the universal here and everlasting now.
So let's take one deep breath in,
Inhale.
And exhale.
I'd like you to think about one difficulty in your life that you've been wanting to resolve.
It could be a difficult person or situation that you've been dealing with recently.
It might be a worry you have about the future or maybe there's something going on you wish would be different.
Whatever it is,
Take a moment to think about it just briefly.
Now imagine you're sitting on a beautiful sandy beach.
The air is warm,
You could feel the sun on your face.
You're sitting quietly on a towel looking out at the pretty ocean in front of you.
Reach down on either side of the towel and imagine grabbing some of that beach sand in your hands.
Try to imagine holding on to it and feeling the weight of the sand in your hands.
Now imagine closing your fists tightly around the sand,
Holding on to it with the strongest grip you can.
Feel that tension in your hands and in your arms.
Now imagine you hold your hands out on either side of you and start to let the sand slip slowly out of your grip in a gentle stream of sand that falls to the ground below.
You let the sand slip through your fingers until all the sand is gone.
And dust the sand off your hands if you like.
Take a deep breath in,
Inhale,
And exhale.
What if you could let go of your difficulty the way you let go of your grip on the sand?
When you're locked in your own thinking and you're determined to figure out all your own answers,
There's a tension there.
It's like the tension you felt when your fists were tightly closed around the sand.
Because when we're the ones determined to be in charge,
When we think we can figure it all out all by ourselves,
We're sending a message to the universe that we don't need help.
But when we let go,
We create space.
Not only do we feel better,
Sometimes immediately,
But we also make room for the universe to take care of things in the best possible way for everyone involved.
What if you could just let it go?
A gentle reminder that letting go isn't a one-time thing,
It's a practice.
So try to come back to the feelings of letting go daily or all through the day and see what effect this practice has on your life.
And open your eyes or come back to where you are.
Thank you so much for taking the time to be here with me today.
And until next time,
Trust in your practice and in your own inner guidance and allow the universe to work its magic.
