Hi and welcome to your practice.
Thank you for gifting yourself this luxury of pulling away from your everyday responsibilities to sit and breathe and be.
Thank you for prioritizing self-care,
For allowing and permitting yourself for these next few minutes to not be the responsible one,
The caregiver,
The parent,
The one always in charge,
The one having to keep another human being alive,
Safe and thriving.
Thank you for recognizing that your own cup ought to be full first before you can selflessly give.
Thank you for remembering that you are more than a parent,
That you are more than a partner,
A caregiver,
And a family.
Thank you for remembering that you are more than the roles.
Thank you for honoring this space in which you need to reconnect with yourself.
Allow your hands to find any place on your body that feels good to rest in.
For some of us that's knees,
For others the belly,
The heart,
You choose.
Let this gesture be a soft,
Warm welcoming,
You reconnecting to you.
Let there be invitation to arrive,
Knowing that for the next few minutes it's just you,
Yourself and you.
Draw a big breath in through the nose,
Fill up the heart and lungs and as you exhale allow for the stress,
The tension,
The pressure,
The speed to softly float out in a way.
The cries,
The tantrums,
The mess,
The running around,
The never-ending answering questions,
Having to find answers for things you've never experienced before,
The 24-7 responsibility of parenting.
Take a breath in and as you exhale let it all go.
With the next breath in begin to take the journey towards your heart space,
Here you are reuniting with your heart.
Notice the rhythm of your inhales and how they pulsate in your chest.
Notice the softness yet steadiness of your body,
The true you,
The one away from your role of a parent.
What do you feel?
What's in your heart?
Sometimes placing the hands on the heart space can help,
Shifting the locational awareness to this point.
How is your heart?
And most importantly,
What do you need?
And if asking yourself what do I need brings emotions,
Can we invite them into this space?
Can you allow yourself to laugh,
To cry,
Maybe to grab a pillow and place it over your mouth and yell if you need to?
Can you allow yourself to feel everything that's bubbling underneath the one who holds it all together and how much responsibility that is?
Feeling your heart remember that this space is always here for you,
That your heart is your refuge,
That your breath is the facilitator of the journey that nourishes you,
Resources you,
Fills your cup,
Down regulates your nervous system so that you can parent from a resourced,
Calm,
Grounded place.
For the next moment draw deep breaths of nourishment.
Notice that the universe gives you everything that you need to keep showing up from love.
And either stay here for as long as you can and have the luxury to,
Or if you need to move on,
Take a deep,
Profound breath in,
Clear it out through the mouth,
And then begin to softly move your body.
Blink your eyes open and look at the floor before lifting your gaze.
Wrap your arms around yourself,
Squeeze tight,
Give yourself the biggest bear hug in true honouring for how you walk this path of parenthood,
And honouring the choice to take time to nourish yourself so that you can nourish your child.
Thank you for sharing your practice with me.
Namaste.
