Today we'll be exploring change and embracing the constant that it is in our lives right now,
Yesterday,
Tomorrow,
Forever.
Gently close your eyes if that would feel good for you.
Relax your body.
Start to tap into your natural breath.
Maybe that's fast and quick and shallow.
Maybe it's deeper and slower right now.
Maybe it's someplace in the middle.
Don't change anything just yet.
Just observe and witness how you're feeling,
How your day is going.
Check in with your energy levels.
Perhaps your breath has naturally begun to deepen and slow,
Signaling to your body that everything is okay.
Now I find in my experience,
In my day-to-day that that really is the goal.
To find the calm in the chaos.
To find the peace in the streets.
When everything is being swept up around me,
To root my feet into the ground.
To come back to my heart space.
Noticing your breath.
As you inhale,
Say to yourself,
I am breathing in.
And as you exhale,
I am breathing out.
As you inhale,
I am breathing in.
And as you exhale,
I am breathing out.
That is the embodiment of change right there.
Perhaps it can make you feel a little bit better and more comforted knowing that even when it does feel like things are staying the same,
We are always changing because our breath is always changing.
So we are that stillness in everything else.
And as much as we want things to stay the same when they're good and pleasurable and fun,
We don't want things to stay the same when they're less pleasurable and less enjoyable and fun.
So we really do need things to change.
Otherwise,
Bad moments would last forever.
And then it wouldn't be this beautiful cycle of birth and death,
Of creation and destruction.
It wouldn't be life.
So perhaps if you're in it right now,
If you're amidst a sea of change and transition,
Transformation,
Can you breathe into the fact that it's temporary?
It won't last forever.
And can you lean into its power and potential?
Can you get stoked about what's to come?
This means letting go of what was.
And that's kind of the crux of it.
In order to make space for what will be,
We must,
Must,
Must let go of what was.
And sometimes that's easier.
Sometimes it's more difficult.
But tapping into this natural cycle of life,
The inhale and the exhale,
Expansion,
Contraction,
Life and death,
This never-ending cycle of change.
When we lean in,
We can flow with it.
There's less resistance,
Less friction.
We can move and co-create with the universe.
When we accept change,
We have more agency and control.
It's counterintuitive,
But when you let go,
You flow with it.
It happens.
So whatever you're experiencing right now,
On your next exhale,
If you can let anything go,
If you can release your hold or grip on anything of the past that's no longer here,
That's no longer present,
Or anything that you no longer want to take with you into the future.
And as you inhale,
Can you inhale strength,
And courage,
And confidence,
Filling up your life,
Your body,
Your breath,
With everything you want to call in for the future.
Life is a dance,
And though it brings up a full spectrum of feelings,
And emotions,
And situations,
And experiences,
The more we can see those from a place of love,
And appreciation,
And gratitude,
The more we can look to everything for lessons,
The more vibrant,
And full,
And rich our lives will truly be.
Because nothing and no one is inherently good or bad.
It's all shades of gray,
Baby.
And when we can see the positives,
And moments that feel overwhelmingly negative,
That's what it's about.
That's what all of this is about,
Is exhaling,
Trusting that you will inhale again,
And inhaling,
Knowing what follows will be a beautiful,
Juicy surrender of an exhale.
Change is beautiful,
Change is exciting,
Lean into it,
Ride it,
Dance with it.
We'll take a big breath to close out the practice,
Big inhale,
Fill up your lungs,
Feel your chest expand,
Grow a little bit taller,
Maybe the sides of your mouth lift.
As you exhale,
Let it all go.
You've got this.
Have fun with it,
Invite play,
Don't take it too seriously.
Thoughts will come,
And you'll go,
When they want.
Observe,
Look for the lessons.
Namaste.
