Paying attention to our inner child can help us to recognize and accept parts of ourselves that are not fully integrated with our adult self. Connecting with your inner child can be a light and fun exercise to remind our adult self to be more playful and to have more fun. It can also help us to heal wounds from our past. To prepare for your visit with your inner child,

Allow yourself to get comfortable.

You are welcome to either sit or lie down,

Whichever you prefer.

Gently close your eyes.

Let's begin by taking three slow,

Deep breaths together to help you tune into the wisdom of your heart.

Feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed with each breath.

Take a deep breath in and out.

Another deep breath in and out.

And a last slow breath in and out.

Imagine yourself standing at the top of a flight of 10 stairs.

As I count down from 10,

You descend one step at a time.

With every step,

You feel a deeper connection with your heart energy and the essence of who you truly are.

10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 When you get to the bottom of the stairs,

You find yourself facing a closed door.

The door opens easily with a gentle push and you find yourself in your favorite place.

Spend a little bit of time here and just enjoy being in this space.

Is this place indoors or outdoors?

What does your favorite place look like?

What are you able to hear when you are here?

How do you feel when you spend time here?

You see a child approaching you.

You realize that it is a younger version of yourself.

Welcome this child into your favorite place.

Give them a hug if you want to.

Notice the age of this child.

Take some time to show them around.

Trouble.

What would you like to tell your inner child?

Are there things that you would have wanted yourself to know when you were this child?

What would you like to tell your inner child?

What would you like to tell your inner child?

Now it is your turn to listen.

Feel yourself become quiet and open to the message that your inner child has for you.

Great.

The time has come for you to say goodbye to your inner child for today.

Spend a few moments telling the child version of yourself how much you love them.

Say goodbye to them in a way that feels right to you.

Remember that you can visit with them again whenever you want to.

Now it is your turn to also leave your favourite place.

You pass through the door where you first entered the space and find yourself back at the bottom of the staircase.

As I count up to 10,

You climb the stairs one by one.

Six.

Seven.

Eight.

Nine.

Ten.

Nine.

Ten.

Slowly start to make small movements with your fingers and your toes to help your body wake up.

If you want to,

You could spend some time journaling about your visit with your inner child when this meditation ends.

Remember that you can come back to this meditation whenever you need to.

Your experience may be different every time you listen as you meet with and integrate your inner child at different ages and stages of your development.
