Because this very clever and mischievous animal knows exactly how to help you have lots of fun and also how to relax you at bedtimes so you're becoming quiet and still.
So if you're ready for a cozy and comfy nighttime adventure into the secret hidden woods,
Then just close your eyes now as you snuggle in for your loveliest,
Dreamiest bedtime rest.
Now as you relax more and more happily here,
You may feel very excited inside because you know that there are some extra fun surprises in store and because you are becoming so very relaxed.
You may even find yourself starting to dream.
Already drifting off and imagining sights and sounds about the wonderful woodland world hidden away in the countryside with its tall strong trees,
Soft green grass and fresh clear streams.
And because you can see this woodland forest so clearly in your mind,
You may imagine yourself drifting down between the trees into this special place.
Until you realise you are standing here in the forest right now.
Because under your bare feet,
You can start to feel the fluffy green grass of the forest floor,
So soft it is almost tickling your toes.
And you see it's a silvery full moon tonight.
And everything is lit up in a brilliant glow.
And it's beginning to seem as though this is all an incredible enchanted dream.
And with everything bathed in this magical moonlight,
You realise you are standing next to the tallest oak tree in the whole forest.
And all of a sudden,
A little fox darts out from behind this oak tree.
And you see,
This is the slinkiest,
Softest,
Smileiest fox you have ever met.
You admire the fox's silky coat,
A reddish chestnut brown.
And you see his white tail is so fluffy.
And he waves it about so proudly in the air.
His friendly eyes are so shiny and happy to greet you.
As he shakes his puffy tail in the moonlight,
He tells you his name is Freddy the Fox.
And so you wave back to Freddy and tell him your name too.
Now Freddy grins,
A cheeky grin.
And suddenly he vanishes.
And instantly disappears.
Where did he go,
You ask?
He's nowhere to be seen.
So you walk closer and closer to where Freddy was last.
And now you see there is a hole at the base of this tree.
As you found,
There is a sleepy burrow under the tallest oak tree.
And the entrance to this burrow is hidden by a fluffy tuft of grass,
Hiding it away from the whole world.
Cheeky Freddy the Fox must be hiding from you.
Obviously playing some sort of tricksy,
Foxy game.
So you climb down inside the entrance to go after Freddy.
And you go deeper and deeper down into this foxhole.
All the time following where Freddy must have gone.
And it's surprisingly warm and cosy here in the burrow.
And it smells earthy and fresh,
Like the roots of centred trees.
And you feel the walls of the burrow are very smooth.
Obviously they've been made really well.
So safe and sturdy.
And you feel so protected.
And you quite enjoy being underground as you explore.
It's very quiet and peaceful here.
And so easy to fall asleep.
But as you climb further and further through the tunnel,
You begin to hear a little pitter patter of foxy footsteps.
And little scratches.
And sniffs.
Coming from somewhere in front of you.
And now you hear foxy giggles.
Like a happy laughter.
As you round a gentle bend,
You see they are coming from Freddy himself.
Freddy really is a prankster,
You think.
What a clever,
Sly,
Mischievous,
Friendly fox.
And you can't help but laugh too.
As you and Freddy together now keep climbing and exploring through the long foxhole tunnel.
Freddy shows you how to slink through so easily.
Just like a sly fox.
He tells you this is a secret burrow he dug all by himself.
Which leads all the way to a very fun place.
Freddy must be the cheekiest fox in the forest.
Since he loves to go out on secret night time adventures.
Just when his brothers and sisters are fast asleep.
Snuggling down with Mama Fox.
Freddy slinks out of the den and goes exploring through the lovely woodlands.
And now the tunnel here you're exploring suddenly opens out to a large field of soft,
Fluffy grass.
And beautiful daisies.
Freddy tells you this is the happy valley.
A secret valley that only foxes know.
So together you and Freddy go tumbling down the gentle slopes.
And go racing.
Rolling about and doing all sorts of foxy,
Tricksy slinking.
In this wide open happy valley.
Which shines brilliantly in the silvery moonlight.
You see and hear there is a sparkling stream of fresh water nearby.
Flowing along here through the happy valley.
And you even reach down to feel the gentle currents of the ripples.
Seeing the water to be so pure and healthy.
And maybe you even spot some small green frogs.
Or some colourful little fish.
As they all swim happily along.
In gorgeous patterns.
And now you and Freddy hop across the rocks of the stream.
And try to catch some electric blue dragonflies.
But their wings are too fast for you.
But wow,
This is such fun.
Now very soon you and Freddy are getting so tired.
And becoming so sleepy.
To be having such an adventure.
And so it is time now to rest.
And Freddy shows you the way.
Back through the happy valley.
Into the woodland.
And all the way back down into the sleepy burrow.
Through the long,
Long tunnel.
Where momma fox,
Papa fox and all of Freddy's happy brothers and sisters are nestling in.
For a sound night's wonderful,
Deep sleep.
Because the sleepy burrow is so soft,
So warm and cosy and dim.
As soon as you slink inside here.
You feel so very,
Very tired.
And so ready to drift off right into sleep.
It is so dreamy and safe here.
And wonderfully comfortable.
