The face is the part of us most seen by the outside world.
Is deeply connected to how we express ourselves.
How we communicate.
How we are perceived.
Through the face where you show joy,
Sadness.
Frustration,
Excitement.
We smile,
We frown.
We hold back tears.
We try to appear okay.
Over time many of us begin holding tension here.
Without even realizing.
In the jaw,
Around the eyes.
And cross the forehead.
Face can become a place where we hold effort.
Or subtle pressure.
From the masks we wear to move through the world.
This meditation is an invitation to soften.
Let go of any expression you no longer need to hold.
To allow the muscles of your face and jaw to rest.
And perhaps even just for a few moments.
To let yourself be exactly as you are.
Begin by finding a comfortable position.
Allowing your body to settle into the support beneath you.
And gently closing your eyes.
Taking a slow breath in.
.
.
And a gentle breath out.
Again breathing in slowly.
.
.
And exhaling gently.
Allowing the exhale to soften the body.
Now bringing your awareness to your forehead.
Noticing whether there is any holding here.
Any farrowing.
Any concentration.
Any effort.
Without needing to force anything to change,
Simply inviting the forehead to soften.
Allowing the space between the eyebrows to widen.
To smooth.
To become a little more spacious.
Now bringing awareness to your temples.
The sides of your head.
Areas that can hold tension without us even noticing.
Gently allowing the temples to soften.
As though any tension is gently melting away Now bringing your awareness to your eyes.
The muscles around your eyes.
Your eyelids.
Space behind your eyes.
So often we spend our days looking,
Focusing,
Scanning.
Just taking this time to allow their eyes to rest.
To settle back into their sockets.
No need to look for anything.
I need to focus on anything.
Just allowing your eyes to rest.
Now becoming aware of your cheeks.
Allowing them to soften.
Letting go of any expression you may have been holding.
Any effort to appear in a certain way.
Any need to smile?
Giving yourself permission to let your face be exactly as it is in this moment.
Now bringing your awareness to your jaw.
Noticing any clenching any gripping.
Me holding Simply noticing.
And then gently inviting the jaw to soften.
Letting your teeth part slightly allowing your lower jaw to become heavy.
To rest.
Bringing awareness to your tongue.
Noticing where it rests.
And seeing if it can soften too.
Allowing it to become broad and heavy.
Resting gently in the base of the mouth.
Now bring your awareness to the front of your neck.
Your throat.
The muscles that help us speak,
Swallow and express ourselves.
Noticing whether there is any holding here.
Inviting sense of softness.
A little more space.
Little more ease.
Now expanding your awareness to the sides of your head.
Around your ears.
Noticing any tension here.
Allowing the muscles around and behind your ears to soften.
Letting that softening spread upward.
Across your scalp.
The sides of your head.
The crown of your head.
Back of your head.
As if your entire scalp could relax Now feeling your whole face.
Your forehead.
Your temples,
Your eyes,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw,
Your tongue.
Your throat.
Your ears.
Your scalp.
Notice what it feels like to let all of these areas soften together.
Just resting.
Just being.
And when you're ready,
Taking a few deep breaths.
And gently opening your eyes.
Thank you for joining me today.
