Welcome to this practice.
This meditation is a guided practice to support you to let whatever is going on in your life be simple.
So often we overcomplicate our lives,
Filling them with busyness and worries.
We jump from one task to the next,
And even when we're doing one thing,
Our minds are already moving ahead to the next.
This creates the illusion of fullness,
Of busyness,
Of never quite having enough time.
But when we slow down,
Even just a little,
And allow ourselves to be here in this moment,
And give ourselves permission to let this moment be simple,
We begin to realize it doesn't have to be so hard.
This is your invitation to let this moment be simple.
Let it be easy.
Let your body rest into the chair or the floor beneath you,
Surrendering your weight just a little more.
Let your body be held,
And on your next exhale,
Allow a soft letting go of any tension your body is holding.
Not needing to force anything,
Simply allowing it to release.
Gently bring your awareness to your face,
Your forehead softening,
The space around your eyes,
Let it widen,
Your jaw unclenching,
Unhinging.
Let your tongue rest heavy in your mouth,
Let it be simple,
Allow your shoulders to drop away from your ears,
Your chest soft,
Your belly soft,
Nothing to hold,
Nothing to brace against,
Just simply being in this moment.
Now bring your awareness to your breath,
Not needing to change it,
Not needing to control it,
Simply noticing,
Inhale arriving,
And the exhale leaving.
Let your breath be simple,
If it wants to deepen,
Let it deepen,
If it wants to stay soft and shallow,
Let it be that too.
Give your body permission to breathe in the way that feels easiest,
Effortless,
And with each exhale a quiet invitation to let go,
Let go of doing,
Let go of managing,
Let go of trying to get it right,
There is nothing to figure out here.
Just this breath,
Just this moment,
Simple.
If your mind begins to wander to plans,
To thoughts,
To worries,
That's okay,
Gently notice it,
And then softly guide yourself back to the simplicity of your breath,
Back to the feeling of your body being held,
Back to now,
You don't need to solve your life in this moment,
You don't need to hold it all together,
For now,
Just let it be simple.
Breathing in,
And breathing out,
You might even begin to notice that underneath all the layers of busyness and thinking,
There's a natural simplicity here,
A quiet,
A steadiness,
Something in you that already knows how to be,
Let yourself rest there,
Nothing extra needed,
Nothing to add,
Nothing to take away,
Just this,
Just you,
Breathing.
And as we begin to gently come back,
Keeping a sense of this simplicity with you,
A reminder that you can return to this at any time,
Not by doing more,
But by allowing less,
By softening,
By letting it be simple,
And when you're ready,
Gently deepening your breath,
Wiggling your fingers and toes,
And slowly opening your eyes,
Thank you for joining me today.
