The heart can be a tender place,
Full of shadowed corners and cobweb-laced doorways that lead to parts long forgotten,
Parts that have been hurt or neglected,
Parts that felt too painful,
Too shameful to hold.
So we push them down,
We hide them away.
From a young age many of us learnt to protect our hearts,
Whether from heartbreak or simply feeling too much of the world's pain.
We learn to disconnect,
To wrap our hearts in layers of protection,
To tuck them away for another time,
For a time when we feel safe enough to share our hearts with the world.
But beneath those layers of numbness and protection lives a part of you so essential,
So you,
That without it you're a shadow of your true self.
So today I gently ask,
What if we were to crack open a small window to your heart?
What if just for this moment,
You were to peek behind the layers and let in a little thread of light?
Let's do this together.
Imagine your heart as a room and imagine yourself standing in the centre.
Take a moment to explore your heart space.
Noticing perhaps the overall size of this space,
Noticing the colour and decor.
Is it cleared or cluttered?
Does it feel spacious and warm?
Or is it a little cramped and in need of a clear out?
To one side of the room you notice a little window.
You make your way towards this window and begin to open it,
Just a little.
As you open the window to your heart,
Feel a warm sea breeze begin to flow in.
Soft,
Soothing,
Effortless.
This breeze is warm and nourishing.
It begins to clear out anything that no longer belongs in your heart.
The stagnation,
The heaviness,
The weight that was never yours to carry.
Let this breeze drift to the back of your heart.
Creating space to receive,
To lean back,
To trust that you are supported.
To let in love,
Joy,
Hope,
And know that you are worthy of receiving it.
Let it move to the front of your heart space,
Clearing any blocks that keep you from sharing your heart with the world.
Let it swirl beneath,
Above,
And all around.
Lifting away the ideas of who you should or shouldn't be.
Let them be carried on the breeze,
Until all that's left is your true essence.
Your original blueprint.
Your heart.
Yourself.
Now imagine a single golden thread,
Gently weaving its way around your heart.
Delicate,
Radiant,
Alive.
This thread is encoded with the knowing that you are enough.
You always have been.
From your very first breath,
Until you take your last.
You are exactly who you are meant to be.
Let this thread tie itself into a bow,
Like a ribbon of love around your heart.
This is your gift to yourself.
You can open it whenever you like.
It's always with you.
And inside is the love you've been searching for all your life.
Not the kind of love that depends on perfection.
But the kind that accepts you fully.
In all your humanness.
With your mistakes.
With your quirks.
In all your exquisite mess.
When you can love yourself in all your messiness.
When you can open your heart to you.
This is when you realise,
The love you so deeply crave from others,
Has been within you this whole time.
So now,
Take a gentle breath.
A gentle breath into your heart.
Feel the spaciousness here.
Feel the quiet.
The warmth.
The remembering.
This is you.
Beneath the noise.
Beneath the armour.
Open hearted.
Soft and strong.
Willing to feel.
Willing to love.
Willing to be seen.
Let this feeling settle into your body.
Let it ripple out through your chest.
Down your arms.
Into your hands.
Into your belly.
Your legs.
Your feet.
Feel the aliveness of your whole being.
And as we come to a close,
Gently place a hand over your heart.
And whisper softly to yourself.
I am safe to feel.
I am safe to love.
My heart is mine to honour.
And I am home.
Take a final deep breath in through your nose.
And let it sigh out.
Letting everything settle.
Letting everything integrate.
And when you're ready,
Gently bringing yourself back to the space around you.
Back to this moment.
Carrying the quiet knowing that your heart is always here.
Always available.
And always worthy of love.
