Hi and welcome to today's meditation where I'm going to guide you through a meditation of self appreciation.
So whether that be at the level of your body or if you're going to take that deeper into the self,
Invitation is for self appreciation to cultivate that gratitude towards yourself and perhaps maybe quiet the inner critic.
So when you're ready,
Let's go ahead and lie down.
And if lying down doesn't feel that comfortable you can also come up seated as long as you are comfortable.
Finding a comfortable position and if it feels okay we're going to close down the eyes.
Just notice how you feel right now,
Where you are arriving from.
How does your physical body feel?
How does your mind space feel?
It's quite busy,
Calm,
Relaxed.
It's quite common or a natural response as well when we come into stillness the mind starts to race.
Our mind being uncomfortable with stillness.
And if that's the case perhaps you might just acknowledge that discomfort and tell yourself it's okay and take a deep breath in and out.
Dedicating these few moments for yourself.
And as we start to watch that breath perhaps you might deepen the inhale and lengthen the exhale.
Noticing the journey of that breath flowing in through the nose,
Through the throat,
The expansion of the lungs.
And a sense of softening,
Releasing as you breathe out.
Perhaps on the next exhale you might release the legs and relax the torso,
Let go of the shoulders.
Perhaps you might soften the jaw,
Eyeballs,
Eyelids and the space in between the eyebrows.
And as we relax the body,
Help me send a sense of gratitude and appreciation of what your body does for you in a day.
Go on walks,
Do a particular hobby,
Eat food,
Drink water.
Your body doing all these amazing things and even starting with that breath.
Oxygen molecules flowing into your body and then through to all the cells in your body.
Providing breath and life into every single cell.
Perhaps you have an appreciation for that breath.
The breath moving through you and out of you.
The breath exchanging with the air surrounding you.
Exchanging with the plants maybe in your house or the trees just outside your home.
And as we breathe being in your body perhaps there is a certain part of your body that you like about yourself.
It could be the colour of your nails,
It could be your feet for allowing you to go for walks,
It could be your figure,
It could be the way a certain item of clothing fits your body.
It could be your hair,
The shape of eyes.
No matter how big or small it is.
Sending a sense of gratitude to something that you like or enjoy about your body.
Perhaps it's the body that allows you to do your favourite hobby.
And then the invitation is to take that deeper.
To think of something or maybe the way your mind works.
And notice here for any inner critics or the inner critic voice starting to get a bit louder.
Again you might acknowledge that inner critic and voice.
Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
And then just remind yourself of something that you like about the way your mind works.
Something that it may be particularly good at.
Creative,
Analytical,
Logical.
Good at observing,
Compartmentalising.
Good with time,
Pictures,
Names,
Faces.
And then also start to send a sense of appreciation for that part of your mind.
And then again the invitation to go deeper.
Something that you like about yourself.
Qualities and characteristics that you might identify as a quality or deem as something good about a person.
Focusing on why you like yourself and if today you're just not in a good space where you're liking yourself then imagine a quality of someone that you do love.
That you also have.
Kindness,
Caring,
Humour.
An ability to make people feel safe.
Being a good cook.
Being good at something that you like.
Something that you like about yourself.
A quality.
And again sending a sense of gratitude and appreciation that you have learnt this.
This is you.
And welcome the whole parts of you.
These things that you like about yourself.
Body and mind and self.
But also the particular things that you may not like about yourself.
And understanding that all these things make you allow you to exist right here and now.
And that you also if you don't like something you can change it.
That's within your power.
And take a moment to appreciate your being right now.
As you take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
Thanking your body.
Thanking yourself.
Thanking the experiences and qualities that you have acquired over your years of being here on this earth.
That make you,
You.
Authentically you.
And welcome yourself into your day.
Hello me.
And however you are right now.
Arriving into your day.
A deep breath in.
And a deep breath out.
Arrive as yourself as you wriggle fingers and toes.
As you gently rock the head side to side.
And feel free to take a full body stretch wherever you are seated or lying down.
And then bring the hands to the heart centre one top of the other.
And welcome yourself back into your day.
Hello me.
