This guided meditation introduces the resonant sound of a Tibetan singing bowl. According to Tibetan oral tradition, the existence of singing bowls dates back to 560-480 BC. Singing bowls produce sounds that can invoke a deep state of relaxation and naturally assist the meditation process. In their simplest form, sounds are vibrations that ripple through the air and provide human beings with a vital way of communicating with our own nervous system. As you listen to the sound of the Tibetan bowl in this practice, you may find that the mind starts to focus on its resonance and tone, and by doing so, the general chatter of the mind starts to quieten. Use this sound as an anchor to your present experience, while you let the mind and body soften into a state of pure contentment.

Tibetan singing bowl meditation.

In this practice we're going to be using the breath as an anchor and also allowing the mind to follow the sound of a Tibetan singing bowl.

Traditionally these bowls have been used to produce sounds which can create a deep state of relaxation.

To begin this practice,

Find a comfortable position,

Either seated on a chair,

On a cushion or simply lying down.

Making sure your back is straight and your shoulders are relaxed.

Placing your hands either by your sides or in your lap.

Again in a position that's comfortable for you.

Gently closing your eyes or lowering your gaze and just tuning into the movement of the natural breath.

Breathing in and out through your nose if you're able to do so.

Taking a few breaths just to settle the body and the mind.

Allowing the mind now to follow the sound of the singing bowl and to experience both feeling and hearing the sound.

Tibetan singing bowl meditation.

The sound of the singing bowl.

The sound of the singing bowl.

The sound of the singing bowl.

The sound of the singing bowl.

The sound of the singing bowl.

And now as the sound of the bowl starts to fade,

Just coming back to following the breath just as it is.

Guiding the mind back to the breath whenever the mind starts to wander into thought or planning or worrying.

Taking in a sense of calm and a sense of stillness as you sit or lie here being supported by the ground beneath you.

And as the practice comes to a close,

Gently open your eyes or raise your gaze and take a moment to allow this practice to calm both the body and the mind.

Namaste. Was hoping to learn more & possibly find out which chakra that bowl activated (that is how they work correct?) but enjoyed it nonetheless. 🙏🏽
