If your mind won't seem to switch off right now,
Like it's still moving,
Still thinking,
You're not doing anything wrong,
This is just what the mind does.
Let's take a few minutes to slow things down without needing to stop anything.
Finding a comfortable position now,
With your back supported and your head free,
And taking a moment to adjust if you need to.
Then letting your body settle,
Gently closing down your eyes or softening your gaze,
Simply beginning to notice the breath wherever it's most strongest for you.
Not trying to change anything,
Just noticing the breath as it is right now.
You may just continue resting your awareness on the breath,
Or you might notice the breath beginning to deepen slightly without needing to do anything.
If it feels natural for you,
Simply allowing your breath out to take a little longer than your breath in,
Not forcing it in any way,
Simply setting an intention for your breath out to be longer than your breath in,
Giving it a bit more space,
Even just slightly.
Perhaps you might notice the body responding to that,
Softening,
Settling in its own time.
There's no precision needed here,
Just letting the breath move in a way that feels comfortable,
At your own pace,
And staying with that for a few more breaths.
And the mind might still be active,
With thoughts coming and going,
Replaying things,
Planning.
That's okay,
You don't need to stop them,
Just noticing.
Thinking is happening,
And then gently,
Whenever you happen to realize your mind has wandered,
Coming back to the breath and your next exhale.
For the next few moments,
Just staying here,
Breathing,
Letting the exhale soften again,
Letting things drop,
Even slightly,
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to be,
Just this moment,
As it is right now.
Inviting you to let go of the breath,
Allowing it to return to its natural rhythm,
And simply resting for the last few moments,
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to be,
I'll tell you when it's time.
And whenever you're ready,
Gently deepening your breath,
Bringing small movement back into your body,
And then slowly opening your eyes and coming back.
Thank you for meditating with me today.
