Feeling the body helps us to relax.
We are aware of everything that arises in it.
We can observe the breath,
Sounds,
And sensations coming and going.
By welcoming everything,
Our mind remains balanced.
There is nothing to achieve,
Nor any struggle.
We are simply aware,
Welcoming every experience that arises in the body.
Sit comfortably.
Be awake and aware.
Allow your whole body to relax.
Breathing out,
Gently close your eyes.
Be aware of your posture.
Just feel how the body is sitting.
You are sitting,
And you know you are sitting.
There is a body.
The phrase,
There is a body,
Reminds us that we're focusing our attention on the whole body.
There is a body.
We can repeat this phrase at intervals to remind ourselves that it is a container.
Be aware that your body is sitting.
There is a body.
Instead of narrowing our attention onto a particular object,
We widen our perspective.
There is a body.
We are focusing on the whole body and feeling it.
We are open to whatever appears.
After a while,
We will become aware of different things arising in the body.
Perhaps we can feel the whole body breathing.
Breathing is a movement taking place within the body.
There is a body.
We allow the breath to find its own natural rhythm without influencing it.
We are just sitting.
There is a body.
Within the body,
We can feel the sensations of the body breathing.
We are aware of the whole body.
We're relaxed and open,
Can feel the breath in the body without influencing or controlling it.
Other sensations may arise,
Attention or pressure.
We may feel heat or cold or a tingling.
As with the breath,
We're just aware of these sensations.
They are rising within the framework of the body.
Perhaps some sensations feel pleasant or unpleasant.
Can we welcome them all with relaxed calm?
Just feel them without reacting.
There's nothing to do.
We are just aware.
Everything is as it is.
If we hold on to pleasant things and reject unpleasant things,
Our reaction will become the focus of our attention.
Just accept what appears,
Whether you like it or not.
That changes your reactivity.
Everything arises,
Is present,
And then fades away without leaving a trace.
We perceive pleasant things as pleasant and unpleasant things as unpleasant.
Notice that both can change.
The practice is to become aware of what is happening in the body.
Perhaps thoughts or images arise in your mind.
Just be aware of the thoughts instead of interpreting them.
If you realize that you have been carried away,
Just return to.
There is a body.
If self-critical thoughts appear,
Be aware of them.
If you notice a moment of transition from thinking to being awake,
Notice that you're experiencing the transition between delusion and wisdom directly.
Be aware that you are simultaneously thinking and are aware of experiencing the nature of the mind.
Each awakening from thinking is a gateway to understanding consciousness.
We are aware that thinking happens in consciousness.
In this moment,
We experience being distracted and aware simultaneously.
When we are sitting,
We are aware of the body.
We are also aware of sounds.
Just notice them.
Even in a busy environment,
We can pay attention to sounds.
We hear them and welcome them.
In the body,
We may feel desire,
Anger,
Restlessness or doubt,
For example.
We may also feel love,
Joy,
Compassion or happiness.
If a strong feeling arises,
We pay attention to it and make it the object of our meditation.
We open ourselves for that experience and welcome it.
Ah,
This is what anger feels like.
Oh,
Joy feels like this.
By welcoming the feelings,
We're not trapped in them.
We welcome all of these experiences.
The breath,
Sensations,
Sounds,
Thoughts and emotions are all part of an illusionary show.
We are aware of this flow.
We recognize that everything comes and goes.
We neither hold on to anything nor suppress anything.
We can also examine the nature of consciousness itself.
When we hear a sound,
We can ask,
Who or what recognizes the sound?
If we're looking for what hears the sound,
We cannot grasp it.
We only discover it when we're wide and open.
It is a subtle knowing.
The phrase,
There is a body,
Reminds us that we're aware of it.
We are also aware of what is arising,
Such as the sensations of the body breathing.
The body breathes in without effort and it breathes out without effort.
Everything happens effortlessly and we welcome everything.
To resist or to fight in meditation means we are not accepting something.
This encourages us to look at what aspect of the experience we're not accepting.
If we find out what it is,
We can relax,
Be mindful and welcome that experience as well.
Slowly begin to move your body.
When you're ready,
You can gently open your eyes and reconnect with the world around you.
Settled for now.
