Between two moments of thought there is a brief pause. Recognising this gap in the habitual stream of thinking allows you to experience silence, movement and consciousness together. Find the gap between the thoughts to let go of habits and suffering. Become aware of the quiet, clear expanse in the gap. The mind is empty, without form, clear, without obstacles, and always aware.

Awareness by Gerald Blomroul Sit or lie down comfortably and be aware of your position.

Let your shoulders relax.

What effect did that have on you?

Relax your jaw,

Your eyes,

Your whole face.

Be aware of what changed.

Relax your muscles and let your skin soften.

How does that feel?

Pay attention to the rhythm with which your body inhales and exhales by itself.

Just be open and attentive.

After a while,

Thoughts and feelings will appear.

Just welcome them without judging.

How long does a thought,

Feeling,

Or sensation last?

Be aware of them constantly moving and changing.

Every experience,

Every thought,

Every feeling comes and goes.

Notice that you're aware even before you experience anything.

You're always aware whether something is appearing or disappearing.

Being aware means constantly recognizing what is present.

Watch your mind as it keeps changing direction.

Focus on the thought.

Notice the moment when the thought dissolves and the next one has not yet appeared.

Notice the gap between two thoughts.

That is the silent consciousness.

Some compare the gap between two thoughts with the silent distance between two words when speaking or with the gap between inhaling and exhaling.

At first,

The gap may be short,

But once you notice the fleeting silence,

You can easily recognize it in the future.

The still gap grows with practice.

It also grows when you enjoy it.

But it is shy,

And it disappears with the slightest movement of thought.

Silence,

Movement,

And consciousness are the three parts of our mind that work together.

Silence and movement are mutually dependent.

The consciousness recognizes the movement and the silence.

All phenomena appear in consciousness.

Happiness and suffering also appear and dissolve again.

Consciousness is often compared to the clear sky.

Just as the sky is obscured by clouds,

Thoughts can obscure the vastness of our consciousness.

After a while,

Thoughts will dissolve into the open,

Knowing space of consciousness without leaving a trace.

Watch the ever-changing thoughts that you identify with.

Find the gap between them to let go of habits and suffering.

Become aware of the quiet,

Clear expanse in the gap.

Your mind is empty,

Without form.

It is clear,

Without obstacles.

There's nothing to find and nothing to do.

Universal and creative action can arise from this spacious field of presence.

For the next three minutes,

Try to watch the gaps between the thoughts.

Experience and enjoy the silent awareness in which everything arises and everything dissolves.

After searching in the App for some minutes to find the right meditation I ended up coming back to your profile, because the combination of your tone of voice, your cadence, the audio quality, the absence of music and the tempo are just the perfect combination for me 🙏. I enjoyed the short gaps of silence I was able to notice during the meditation.

Such a powerful meditation! Learned practically how thoughts constantly come and dissolve in the mind. You'll learn how to examine the gap between two thoughts. Gonna revisit often!

That was a new kind of practice for me and I found that in the quiet space you offered I was able to remain in the gap for longer periods of time. A mantra emerged of “mind the gap”. Thank you!
