Welcome to a face yoga sequence meant to naturally stretch and reduce the nasolabial folds and the marionette lines. These exercises can be done in conjunction with a warm-up exercise, a few more other exercises, and a cool-down exercise, or just by themselves - mirror and a seated position recommended.

Hello and welcome to this mini face yoga practice.

My name is Georgiana Petek and I am your face yoga teacher.

This recording will bring you two exercises to stretch and strengthen the muscles around the mouth,

The orbicularis ornis.

These exercises are useful for straightening the nasal labial folds and marionette lines.

These lines will become less and less deep and less and less visible.

The corners of the lips will also lift up as muscle memory is formed,

Giving the face this perpetual smiling expression,

So uplifting in our day to day life.

Just by lifting the corners of our mouth,

We increase the amount of endorphins that the body releases.

Let's get to work.

Looking at yourself in the mirror,

Teeth slightly parted,

Lips gently touching,

Smile a broad smile.

I always think of the grin of the Cheshire cat from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland when I do this exercise.

Make sure your smile is even and use your fingers to hold it up.

Usually the fingertips of the index fingers work best for me.

Take 4-5 deep breaths in and out through the nose.

And let go.

Bring your shoulders up to your level.

Inhale,

Hold tension 1,

2,

3.

And let the shoulders go back and down.

Breathe 3-4 times.

Keep the eyes closed,

Relaxing the whole face.

Then do the exercise one more time.

Here,

Let's go through the sequence together.

The following little exercise also relates to the grumpy face.

Let's bring back that Cheshire cat,

Equal smile.

Place the tips of the index fingers on each corner of the mouth to hold the smile.

Then stick out a long pointy tongue.

The tongue should reach down as if you're trying to touch the chin with it.

Then move the tongue from one corner of the mouth to the other 5 times.

We're doing this 3 times in a row,

So 3 times 5.

If you need to rearrange the smiling between each small session and of course swallow saliva,

Do so.

Also don't forget to breathe in and out through the nose,

Keeping the face relaxed and not contracting any other facial muscles or creating extra unwanted lines.

Ready?

I'll be here with you.

Long pointy tongue reaching down toward the chin,

Then traveling from one corner of the mouth to the other 5 times.

Great!

Again.

Don't forget to breathe.

It's not as easy as it sounds.

One last time.

Perfect!

That's all I had for this session.

Thank you so much for listening and for taking part in the face yoga journey with me.

Much love from me,

As always.

These classes are making such an impact on my facial symmetry! I have Myasthenic symptoms of drooping eye and mouth on the left and it has greatly improved in just 2 weeks! My neurologist will be amazed! Hope he recommends this to other patients like me!
