Chapter 1 The Power of Our Emotions We often lose ourselves in a search for pleasure,
For fulfillment of the senses,
Letting them be our guide.
Instead,
We must learn to dive deeper than the field of sensation and begin listening to our body's inner wisdom.
We must constantly ask ourselves,
What do I feel,
And start investigating our inner world for reasons why we might be experiencing something.
As we begin touching our own hearts,
Our own aliveness,
By staying open to our emotions,
We will discover a life that is more rich and alive in every moment.
Our inner compass is constantly pointing us toward a greater realization of who we are and who we are meant to be.
Although outside circumstances may lead us to believe otherwise,
Our inner truths will never lead us astray.
They will show us the path through the darkest storms and the brightest skies.
We can learn to let these truths guide us throughout the day.
We can allow these truths to lead us through the subtle lies and deceptions of life,
The lies and deceptions that we allow others to tell us,
And that,
Most importantly,
We tell to ourselves.
We can find connection to the truth and to the world around us through our emotions.
By learning to trust and learn from them,
We can begin swimming effortlessly with the current of life,
With the current of our own life,
And not against it.
As we begin embracing our inner reality,
We will find our energy flowing and our spirits brightening.
Life will become more alive,
And we will grow in wisdom and inner peace.
No one else can tell us how we feel.
Only we have this information.
We should use it wisely and often and grow into ourselves with each breath and step that we take.
Our emotions,
As we begin paying attention to them,
Will provide us with greater clarity and understanding about our lives.
As we start acknowledging their presence and opening to their wisdom,
We will begin to see how we might live a more truthful,
Heartfelt existence in every moment and discover a compassion born of an acceptance of how things are rather than how we might want them to be.
All of life is waiting for us to swim with it,
To play in its peaceful waters.
We no longer have to swim alone in a sea of sadness,
Loneliness,
And regret.
We simply have to accept whatever we are feeling in this and every moment.
We just have to watch our emotions as they pass by within us,
Within our awareness.
We just have to feel them.
As we begin doing this,
We will start to truly feel alive and will begin flowing in harmony with the currents that are around us and within us.
