As adults,

It can be difficult to make new friends.

You likely have fewer regular activities,

You may have to put yourself out there,

And it can feel nerve-wracking and out of our comfort zone.

I'm Jenna,

And today I'd like to work with you to visualize what you are looking for in a friendship.

Get comfortable,

Moving your body,

And getting ready to listen.

First,

Think of a moment in your life filled with friends or family,

Laughter,

Joy,

Or comfort.

When you visualize and hear,

What or who made you laugh?

Who brings joy to your life?

Where have you felt a connection?

There can be many different reasons you feel you need a connection.

Maybe you have some friends moved away,

Your schedule has changed,

You've changed jobs,

You have sadly lost some connections.

Think what else comes to mind that has changed in your life.

Any of these situations can make you feel lonely and make the need for a friend.

Friends can listen.

Friends can make you feel more comfortable.

Having a friend can make you feel whole or laugh.

Now let's think of a good connection you've had.

Would you like to make that connection again?

Do you feel like you need a new friendship?

Now let's think.

How do you spend your usual time now?

What would you like to spend more time doing?

Are there certain activities you'd love to find a connection?

For example,

Maybe doing some artwork.

Is that in your regular schedule yet?

Think of where or how you can join this activity.

Is it near you and in person?

Are there activities online?

Maybe a regular group gets together.

Is there a special event where you can make a new friend or meet up?

Is there a certain time of day or during the week or month that works best for you?

If it's a new area for you,

Invite a neighbor over for tea.

That neighbor could be a start to a new friendship or maybe even to give you suggestions for what to do around your city.

Somehow,

Any way you start,

Try to get a small conversation going.

They might not be the best first connection,

But maybe it can lead you to new activity ideas,

Friendships,

Or going back to family that you connect to more.

I hope you've come up with some new ideas or a place to start building a friendship or renewing a friendship.

Take a breath in.

Right now,

I'd like you to picture when are you going to work on this friendship,

When are you going to work on this friendship making?

Where is it going to be?

Possibly who will you be meeting?

Picture the laughter,

The connection,

And the start into something that makes your heart feel more whole.

I wish you courage and success in this friendship to come.
