A meditation for creating space.
Today's practice is a meditation to help you create time and space in your life.
Two things which are so very important but so often overlooked.
This practice is perfect for when you need to step back,
To take a break and to escape the noise and busyness of the day for a while.
So I invite you to get comfortable sitting or lying down with your back straight and nicely supported with your hands relaxed in a comfortable position.
You might want to cover yourself with a blanket or if you're lying down put a cushion underneath your knees for extra comfort and support.
Now close your eyes and turn your focus inwards.
Take a deep breath in,
Hold it and then slowly release.
With each inhale imagine bringing in warm loving energy and surrender to the feelings of support and relaxation.
As you exhale allow your body to soften and calm,
Relaxing even more and going deeper into a blissful state of peace and stillness.
Notice how good it feels to be here right now,
To surrender,
To relax and to give yourself this gift of peace and stillness,
Time and space.
Let go and allow yourself to soften and ease into the moment.
This moment here and now just for you.
There's nowhere else you need to be and nothing else you need to do except be here right now enjoying this moment.
Breathe in relaxation and calm.
Breathe out stress and tension.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Breathe out and as you continue to breathe slowly and deeply surrender more fully to the sensation of calm and relaxation unfolding within you and focus on the words coming to you now.
Let them wash over you and soothe you as you relax more deeply.
I want you to imagine you are sitting on the soft cushioned floor of a beautiful woodland.
With every breath tune in to the scent of the pine,
The sweet flowers and the earthy smell of the woods that surround you.
The green canopies of the trees providing safe space and shelter for you now.
And as you sit here calm and quiet feel the warmth of the Sun on your face and the gentle breeze on your skin.
Know that you are safe,
You are protected.
This is your time.
Time to be still,
To listen,
To pause and breathe.
Feel yourself becoming more and more grounded into the earth beneath you.
Fully held and supported in this moment.
As you breathe slowly and deeply give thanks again to yourself for showing up here today.
For giving yourself this moment in time just for you.
There's nowhere else for you to be except right here,
Right now,
Enjoying the gifts of quiet and calm.
Creating space for ourselves in this way is one of the most loving things we can do.
Time and space just for us is at the core of our needs.
Yet so often we deny ourselves this simple necessity.
Forcing ourselves to keep going,
Never pausing,
Which can lead to suffering and feelings of resentment which we numb out so we no longer have to feel.
Time and space therefore are essential if we are to feel grounded and connected,
Loved and supported.
If you feel like this is a luxury you can't afford or if it feels indulgent in some way then I want you to let go of those ideas now.
Let go of the stories you are telling yourself that you are not worthy or deserving of this precious gift of time and space.
Let go of the guilt you are carrying around and surrender to the peace that is yours.
Take a few deep breaths now and allow yourself to return to the forest floor.
The soft cushioning support,
Inhaling the soothing scent of peace and calm as you feel your shoulders relax just a little bit more.
Breathe deeply and slowly tuning in to this space.
This space around you.
This space within you.
Tune into the stillness and listen and breathe.
Listen to what needs to be said.
Listen to what you need.
What is the forest trying to tell you?
What do you hear?
What do you feel?
What do you need?
As my voice begins to fade and the music gently leaves you,
Allow yourself to stay here a while.
Take a moment longer among the trees and stay here soft and unsupported,
Safe and still.
Breathing slowly and deeply in this precious moment for as long as you need.
Inhaling the soothing scent of peace and calm as you feel your shoulders relax just a little bit more.
Breathe deeply and slowly tuning in to this space.
This space within you.
This space within you.
