Welcome to this cooling,

Calming,

Moonbeam yoga nidra.

Please find a comfortable position to lie down in Sivashana for the next 30 to 40 minutes for deep rest.

If lying on your back is at all uncomfortable you might like to place cushions under your head or under your knees which can take pressure off the lower back or find another position which might be more comfortable for you.

Gently close your eyes or if it feels better come to a soft gaze.

I will now begin to move our attention inward.

I'd like you to open the mouth until you feel the desire to yawn.

If yawning comes to you continue yawning as you feel called to.

If yawning doesn't come take a few deep breaths in through the nose and sigh out through the mouth with an audible sigh.

So yawning as much as feels right or breathing deeply and sighing out loudly.

Now bring yawning or sighing to a gentle close and become aware of any sensations or pulsations in your body at this time.

We'll now say a sankalpa or intention for this practice.

If you already have one or work with one within yoga nidra repeat it three times like you're planting a seed into the cool damp earth.

If you don't have an intention take a breath in and bring it to your heart.

What does your heart truly desire?

See what comes up it might be in the form of a vision or feeling and set an intention that begins I am as if it's already in the present tense.

So I am calm,

I am healthy are just some examples.

Once you have your intention repeat it three times like you're planting a seed into cool damp earth.

I'll now guide you into a state of yoga nidra.

You have the choice to follow my guidance or if any instruction doesn't feel right for any reason you're invited to choose not to take that guidance and instead if you wish you can follow your breath or bring your awareness to your body and sensations.

And we'll now begin the journey in to yoga nidra.

Imagine you're lying on the cool earth at twilight that time before dusk when there is still some light in the sky.

As you look up you see a big silvery full moon looking down on you.

You're cushioned by the earth below you and you feel held as it rises up to meet the contours of your body.

The canopy of the twilight sky arches over you and you feel safe in this container that you share with the calming moon.

The moon is said to have cooling and calming properties and we will channel this today to cool and calm our body,

Mind and emotions.

Perhaps you experience inflammation,

Fiery emotions or a hot environment and this is recorded at a time where the UK is experiencing a heatwave.

Let this yoga nidra journey with the moon soothe you into deep rest.

You can make any last adjustments that you need to to really support your comfort so that you can sink deeply into this healing restful journey.

We'll begin with rotating attention throughout the body and as we visit each body part place a moonbeam there leaving it to cool and calm.

We'll start by placing a moonbeam at the right hand thumb,

Second finger,

Third finger,

Fourth finger,

Fifth finger.

Shine a silvery moonbeam at the palm of the right hand,

Back of the hand,

The right wrist.

Leave cooling moonlight on the lower right arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

Right shoulder,

Right armpit,

Right waist.

Shine calming moonbeams at the right hip,

Right thigh,

The knee,

The calf,

The right ankle,

The heel,

The sole of the right foot,

Top of the foot.

Shine silvery moonlight on the big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe and fifth toe.

Now bringing the light of the moon to the left side of the body,

Place moonbeams on the left hand thumb,

Second finger,

Third finger,

Fourth finger,

Fifth finger and let there be moonlight on the palm of the left hand,

Back of the hand,

The left wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm.

Shine lunar light on the left shoulder,

Left armpit,

Left waist.

Cooling moonbeams shine on the left hip,

Left thigh,

The left knee,

The calf,

The left ankle,

Left heel,

The sole of the left foot,

Top of the left foot.

Silvery moonbeams on the left big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe and fifth toe.

Now go to the back of the body,

Place cooling moonlight on the right shoulder blade,

The left shoulder blade,

The right buttock,

The left buttock,

The spine,

The whole back of the body illuminated in silvery cooling calming moonlight.

Now shine calming moonbeams on the top of the head,

Forehead,

The right eyebrow,

Left eyebrow,

The space between the eyebrows.

Silvery lunar light on the right eyelid,

Left eyelid,

The right eye,

Left eye,

The right ear and the left ear.

Allow moonbeams to shine on the right cheek,

Left cheek,

The nose,

The tip of the nose,

The upper lip,

Lower lip and cooling moonbeams on the chin,

The pit of the throat,

The right chest,

Left chest,

The middle of the chest,

The navel point and cooling calming moonlight shines on the whole pelvic area.

See the silvery moonlight shine through the whole of the right leg,

The whole of the left leg,

Cooling moonlight on both legs together.

Moonbeams shine on the whole of the right arm,

The whole of the left arm,

Cooling moonlight on both arms together.

Calming moonlight shines on the whole of the back,

Buttocks,

Spine and shoulder blades.

Silvery cooling moonlight on the whole of the front,

Abdomen and chest.

Cooling calming moonbeams through the whole of the back and front of the body together.

The whole head shining with the milky calming light of the moon.

The whole body cool and calm bathed in moonlight.

The whole body.

The whole body silvery with lunar energy and light.

I'll now invite you to turn your attention to your breathing.

And we'll now practice the cooling breath.

Begin to inhale slowly,

Filling the abdomen,

Then the chest,

Then the chest cavity,

All the way up to the neck.

Purse your lips and exhale very slowly as if you're blowing out through a straw.

And again,

Inhale slowly,

Feeling the abdomen,

Chest and collarbones rising.

And exhale even more slowly,

Pursing your lips as if you're blowing out through a straw.

Continue this cooling breath at your own rhythm and pace.

Breathing in and out and pursing your lips like you're blowing through a straw.

Breathing coolness into the whole body.

Now allow your breath to return to normal.

And notice any tingling sensations or vibrations that you may have in the body.

We'll now practice an awareness of opposites.

And I'd like you to begin to sense your whole body feeling warm.

Notice which part of your body is the warmest.

And feel that warmth start to spread throughout the body.

The whole body warm.

And focus on this feeling of warmth.

The whole body feeling warm.

Now let go of warmth as the body starts to feel cooler and cooler.

Notice any coolness in the body.

Perhaps noticing where you have skin exposed to the air.

What's the coolest part of your body?

And feel this coolness now spread throughout the body.

The whole body cool.

Hold attention on the sensation of whole body coolness.

Feel the whole body being cooled.

And now let this sensation go.

And become aware of both warmth and coolness in the body at the same time.

Holding the sensation of warmth and coolness together.

These opposites which can be held simultaneously.

And now release this sensation and rest.

Rest aware of the cool earth beneath you.

Sense your body being held by the earth.

See yourself resting like you're above your body looking down at it.

Notice what you're wearing today and the expression on your face.

No judgement,

Just simply observe yourself resting.

Now visualise the full moon reaching down and floating at your third eye centre.

The moon gently pours its healing,

Milky goodness into you.

Feel its cooling,

Calming energy spread through your face and head.

The energies of the moon continue to spread throughout your body.

Its light cascading through your neck into your shoulders.

Bringing healing to every cell and atom in your body.

The cooling,

Calming moonlight spreading through your body and dissolving all forms of exhaustion.

Continue to visualise and sense this for the next few moments.

On the next in-breath your whole body is now fully bathed in the milky,

Healing light of the moon.

The light of the full moon now shines and rests at the pelvis.

Rest here,

Holding moonlight at the pelvis.

Rest here.

Now bring your intention back to mind and repeat it three times like a deep vow to yourself.

Sensing your intention flowing throughout your whole body.

Feel it deep in your body.

Breathing in and out,

Bring attention back to the moon high in the sky above you.

She has journeyed with you today and would now like to leave you a gift to heal your body and soul.

Sense or imagine this gift or message.

You are grateful to the moon for being with you today,

For her healing energies and any gift that you may have received.

And just continue to breathe in and out.

Now begin to breathe in and out of your heart space.

And when it feels right,

Ask for a soul whisper,

A message from your soul.

This may be something you sense or arrives as an image,

Word or phrase.

Listen for this whisper.

If you've received a soul whisper,

You may find it helpful to welcome an opposite feeling.

If you didn't receive a soul whisper,

Trust that it may arrive after you rest today,

Perhaps in a dream or as an intuitive message.

It's now time to slowly wake up and gradually become more and more aware of your physical body,

Your body lying on the cool earth.

The movement of your breath.

An awareness of the space you're resting in today.

It might feel nice to wiggle your fingers and toes.

Or to circle your feet and hands.

Or you might like to bring your hands to your head to stroke your face or pitter patter raindrops on your head with your fingertips.

And very,

Very slowly,

When you feel ready,

Come back to the place you're resting in.

And this completes your yoga nidra journey today.
