Hello,
Dr.
Nefi here.
I hope this message finds you well.
Today I want to talk about the bucket list.
If you don't have one,
Hopefully after today's conversation with me,
You're encouraged to start one.
Or if you have one,
Take another look at it and get back to your list.
Because the truth is,
Nothing lasts forever.
Not me,
Not you,
None of us.
And sometimes we have to look back in that mirror and realize that we have to rev up our mortality engines.
The really cool thing about everything is that each day is a new opportunity to reboot our lust for life.
Even when old death comes knocking at our door,
We want to give ourselves something good to look back on,
To feel good about.
When you have that ultimate flash before your eyes,
What would you think about?
What are the things that you haven't done that you really want to do,
But you have excuses?
The job,
The money,
That time off,
Not having the right time,
Looking for the perfect time.
So just want to give you a couple of suggestions on things that can hopefully spark your interest to reboot that bucket list or create one.
Do some skiing or snowboarding.
Get out there in the open and canoe.
Ride a horse.
My dad had 12 horses growing up and I am a professional equestrian and I love,
Love,
Love to ride Western style.
Now they do therapy for connecting with horses.
Learn a new language.
You don't have to be fluent,
But it actually helps your brain.
Sing in the choir.
I did that for a decade and even though I am no Mariah,
I sounded really good with the wonderful singers next to me.
Dance Zumba or Salsa night.
Ride in a hot air balloon.
I vividly remember my first time on a hot air balloon.
They're much bigger in person and all the patches on the actual balloon makes your heart skip a beat or two,
But once you're up in the air,
There's nothing like that.
Side note,
There's no brakes.
You have to actually brace yourself to land.
You can jump out of a plane if that's your thing,
If you like the adrenaline and obviously if you're in good health.
Scuba diving,
Whitewater rafting.
Did that in Costa Rica.
Very scary,
But very fun.
Did it twice and I don't need a third time.
Play chess or checkers.
Really get to know something about the game and how you have to kind of think a step ahead.
It's really good for your brain,
But it's also good for socializing.
Make some pottery.
Paint a picture.
You don't have to be an artist,
But just paint a picture,
Whatever comes to you.
Write a short story or a poem.
Share it with someone else.
You can even try to solve a Rubik's Cube.
Never was successful at that,
But for those who are,
Hats off to you.
Volunteer.
A lot of us feel good to help others or fundraise for something or someone or a cause that's near and dear to you.
If you haven't done this and you really want to do this and you're over 30 or 40,
Start a business.
It could be something simple.
It can turn into something big,
But hey,
I encourage you to do that.
My mother and my sister have been entrepreneurs all their lives and it's a beautiful sight to see and very,
Very rewarding.
Last suggestion is ride a motorbike.
Whether as a volunteer or yourself.
It could be a two-wheel,
It could be a three-wheel,
But just wanted to give you a couple of things to think about.
We don't have time.
We're all operating every single day on an invisible clock.
I'm telling you,
I've lived long enough to know that time waits for no one.
Plan your bucket list.
Do it.
I'll say it again for the people in the back.
Whatever you want to do in this lifetime,
Don't let anything hold you back and I promise you it will be all worth it.
Be well.
