Welcome to Daily Insight,
My name is François and in this episode I will talk about the addiction to novelty.
So get ready to expand your perspective and embrace positive change.
Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.
Eckhart Tolle We like what is familiar and predictable because it gives us a sense of certainty in the uncertainty of life.
But it's interesting when you make novelty familiar.
I have an addiction to novelty,
I have to admit.
I thrive in new environments,
Discovering,
Exploring and trying new things.
And I get bored when things stay the same for too long,
Except for my wife.
Novelty brings joy and aliveness into my life.
That's why I've been a nomad for the past seven years.
I keep traveling and discovering new places.
Every time I go somewhere I am exposing myself to new thoughts,
New culture,
New people and it really helps me grow.
But it took me a long time,
Unfortunately,
To understand that it must come with one condition.
Gratitude.
You must appreciate whatever is here and now to avoid getting lost in always desiring for more.
We all want more success,
More money,
More time,
More passion,
More experiences.
But the problem is that if we keep desiring for more,
Not acknowledging what we have right now,
We get in this hamster wheel.
It's never finished.
I look forward to the opportunities that tomorrow may bring,
But first I cherish the blessings and experiences of today.
This is a practice.
So here's my question for you today.
While chasing more novelty in your life,
What is something that you can truly appreciate today?
And more than just being grateful about it,
Really enjoying it.
Knowing that there is maybe more waiting for you,
But it doesn't mean that you don't have enough.
Thank you for choosing to spend this few minutes with me.
I hope this episode has left you with a powerful takeaway to apply to your life.
