Sing Inside Out - Expression Through Voice

You always have your voice with you. Learn how to use it to sing inside out. Expressing yourself is extremely important. As Edith Eger writes, the cure for depression is expression. We long to express ourselves. Everything that lives inside of you, wants to get out. But most of us have forgotten this, or learned to suppress it. Sometimes your body wants to shout out the happiness. Or anger... Maybe your body lets out a deep sigh: “haaaaah…. ” Do you ever catch yourself automatically humming or singing along to music? Or maybe you recognize that you would like to, but you don't? Expressing yourself is extremely important for your overall wellbeing. We are longing to give space to our inner voice, to express what lives within. But most of us have forgotten this, or learned to suppress it… What would it be like to consciously follow your desire and express yourself with your voice? What about really listening to what you sound like? To really listen to whatever sound comes out of your body, Instead of how something should be? Do you allow yourself to be free of judgment in singing? I would like to take you into that experience through voice-liberating exercises. Your voice is the perfect bridge between your inner world and the outside world. Listen to your real authentic voice. Sing Inside Out! Beware, this course requires a portion of courage. Dare to stand still and reflect. It takes courage to experience and feel everything that lives inside you and to really give space to whatever wants to come out. Your voice is the perfect tool for this. After all, you always have your voice with you. If you decide to make this journey, it may happen that you are going: from depression to expression. From inner captivity to emotional freedom From not accepting to acceptance From missing to longing for From despair to hope From fear to trust From holding to letting go From resistance and maybe hate, to love From unwillingness to willpower. Latifa Explanation
The Latifa is a cyclus of 7 steps. In this lesson I will tell you which steps these are. I also call them life themes. Becoming aware of the steps can provide enormous insight, and be a guideline in your personal development. The themes help you to grow, research, develop, meet and unfold. Every time you go through the steps (un)consciously, you go through a transformation. And you come to your willingness.

Accept
Accept – reminds us of (the pain of) non-acceptance. You can also accept non-acceptance. To accept means to say 'yes' to what is. It is recognizing what is now and dealing with it.

Desire - Longing For
This session is all about desire. We humans have 2 basic desires. I'll explain that to you in this lesson. Seeing and acknowledging these desires is very helpful in living emotionally free. You are stimulated to examine your own desire. A very interesting process. Because, if you really know your desire, then you have the compass of your life in your hands. Then you can see that your desire is the engine of the choices you make. Aware and unaware. You will see that desire can be recognized in everything. Very liberating if you dare to face the confrontation...

Hope
You have arrived at the third step of the Latifa: Hope. You know that feeling when you really hope for something? You don't know if it's coming, you don't know when it's coming or exactly how it's coming, but you really hope so! “Hope gives life” So: dare to hope! At the same time, that also means having the courage to stay in the not-knowing… Stay with the not-knowing and open yourself to what is to come.

Trust
“Living with uncertainty and taking risks nonetheless.” A quote from Jan Kortie. It describes what trust is. The 5th step of the Latifa . It's: I am empty-handed and I have something to give. I matter. Trust is being true to yourself. Be faithful to what is in you now, instead of striving for what is not. Observing more and more precisely what you can be faithful to. And, bringing that out, sincere and pure is the challenge. In order to do that, it is first necessary to keep going back to: what is your experience now? Your body is a very suitable, if not the most important, entrance.

Let Go
Let go, the 5th step from the Latifa . When we don't feel safe, we seek control. We almost frantically look for something to hold on to. But where we hold on, we don't let go. This can work against you, especially if you're holding onto a false sense of security for a long time. The false safety of, for example, thoughts like: if I do this now, then that will happen. Or: if I don't do this, it won't happen. They are all patterns that can hold you. Holding on is often more exhausting than you think. But you usually only find out if you dare to let go.

Love
If I were to ask you: how loving are you? What is your answer then? Dreu asks this question in his Dutch booklet "Live! 8 exciting clues." A bit of a trick question because, the answer can simply be: I am a loving person. Point. As far as I'm concerned, love is the essence of our being. It goes beyond judgments, personal and critical layers of ourselves. If we peel off the layers that make up our personality/ego, love remains. It is always there, it always shines, but sometimes, or very often, it is our own hassle that makes it invisible.

Willingness
The last step of the Latifa. Willingness leads to transformation. It's about wanting what you do. Instead of doing what you want. I hope you see that your willingness to do this is immensely valuable. In fact, it is the key to transformation. It has been your willingness to take these lessons and walk through the steps from your curious you!

What's Next? Guiding Your Yes
Which step appealed to you the most? Every moment is a new 'now'. So any moment you can feel attracted to another step or life theme. If you recognize a step, you can give direction to your Yes. How do you keep recognizing the steps? That's what this last lesson is about.
