Explore a powerful somatic approach to working with full moon energy – specific acupressure points that support release, balance, and letting go during this heightened lunar period. Acupressure is an ancient healing practice that works with the same energy meridians as acupuncture but uses gentle finger pressure rather than needles. These meridians are energy pathways that run throughout the body, connecting our physical systems with our emotional and energetic bodies. Working with specific points during the full moon can help harmonize our energy when it might otherwise feel scattered or excessive. Welcome back.

Today we'll explore a powerful somatic approach to working with full moon energy by activating specific acupressure points that support release,

Balance and letting go during this heightened lunar period.

Before we begin,

Find a comfortable seated position where you can be undisturbed for the full practice.

You may wish to have a small pillow to rest your hands on during certain portions of our practice.

Let's start by connecting your breath with your sense of being.

Place both hands gently on your lower belly,

About three fingers below your navel.

This area,

Known as the Tantian elixir field,

Is considered a center of vital energy storage.

As you connect with your Tantian,

Take three deep breaths,

Feeling the rise and fall of your belly beneath your hands.

We'll now move to our first acupressure point for release work.

Guide your awareness to the space between your eyebrows,

Your third eye center.

Using the middle finger of either hand,

Gently apply pressure to this point,

Which is known as the Yingtang,

Or Hall of Impression.

This point helps to calm an overactive mind and release tension.

We'll apply steady pressure for about 30 seconds,

Breathing normally.

As you continue to apply pressure on this point,

I'll share more about this point.

The Yingtang point is also associated with intuition and inner knowing,

Supporting the illuminating qualities of the full moon energy while tempering any mental chatter within you.

As you feel the gentle pressure of your middle finger between your eyebrows,

You may wish to visualize soft moonlight dissolving any mental tension.

You're welcome to stay for as long as it feels good for you here.

When you feel ready to move on to the next point,

Find the hollow space in the center of your chest between your pectorals at the level of your fourth intercostal space.

This is called the conception vessel 17,

Or Sea of Tranquility.

Place your middle three fingers over this point,

Applying gentle steady pressure.

This area is associated with your heart center in many traditions,

And it works with accumulated emotions that may be surfacing during the full moon period.

As you press gently on this point,

You may wish to visualize opening a valve that allows any stuck or stagnant emotions to release safely.

As any emotions arise,

Allow them to surface and acknowledge them,

And as you exhale,

Allow them to be released.

You're welcome to stay longer if this feels good for you.

If you feel ready to move on,

We'll now explore a point that specifically helps to balance the nervous system when it's over activated,

Something common during full moon periods.

Locate the point at the top of your inner wrist crease,

Directly below your palm,

On the little finger side.

This is heart 7,

Known as spirit gate,

Shen Men.

Using the thumb of your opposite hand,

Apply gentle pressure to this point.

This powerful point helps calm anxiety,

Reduce insomnia,

And ease emotional overwhelm,

All common experiences during full moon periods.

This point is mirrored on your other hand,

So when you feel ready,

We'll now gradually release the pressure,

And repeat this for your opposite wrists.

Using the thumb of your other hand to apply gentle pressure on this point.

Acupressure on this point creates a harmonizing effect on your heart's energy,

Which in traditional Chinese medicine,

Includes your emotional landscape,

As well as your physical heart.

We'll now gradually release this point,

And transition to a point specifically associated with release,

And letting go.

Find the hollow space between the base of your skull,

And the top vertebrae of your spine,

At the center back of your head.

This is governing vessel 16,

Known as wind mansion.

Using your thumb or index finger,

Apply gentle pressure to this point,

Slightly lifting upwards towards the crown of your head.

This point is traditionally used to clear stagnant energy,

And release what no longer serves you.

As you press this point,

Imagine all patterns,

Beliefs,

Or attachments dissolving and releasing from your system.

This point creates space for new energy to center,

To enter,

After release has occurred.

With your next exhale,

We'll release this point,

And now explore a point that helps to.

.

.

We'll now explore the next point,

Which works with excess energy that can accumulate during full moon periods.

Find the webbing between your thumb and your index finger,

At the highest point of the muscle,

When you bring these two fingers together.

This is large intestine 4,

Known as union valley.

This powerful point supports your body's natural detoxification process,

On both physical and energetic levels.

Use a thumb of your opposite hand to apply firm,

Yet comfortable pressure to this point,

Holding for about 30 seconds.

As this point is mirrored on your other hand,

When you feel ready to release,

We'll gently release this side,

And come on to the other side,

Locating union valley on your other webbing,

Between your thumb and index finger of the other hand.

Apply comfortable,

Yet firm pressure on this point,

And as you are working with this point,

Visualize releasing any accumulated tension or excess energy that might be creating discomfort or imbalance during this full moon period.

When you feel ready to release,

We'll now explore the last point that helps to ground excess energy.

Find the point on the sole of your foot,

About one-third of the way down from the base of your toes,

In the slight depression formed when you curl your foot.

This is kidney 1,

Known as bubbling spring.

If you are pregnant,

You may wish to skip this point.

To activate this point,

Press firmly on this point with your thumb,

Or if more comfortable,

You can use your knuckles,

Or even massage this point with a tennis ball under your foot.

You can do both feet at the same time,

If you are using tennis balls,

Having one for each foot.

This powerful grounding point connects your energy with the A,

Helping to stabilize and anchor you during intense energetic periods.

As you stimulate this point,

Visualize excess energy draining harmlessly back into the A,

Leaving you feeling centered and balanced.

If you're working only on one side,

Hold or massage for about 45 seconds,

Then repeat the same on your other foot.

Wonderful.

To complete our practice,

Return to a comfortable seated position and place your palms facing up on your thighs as a gesture of opening to receive.

Allow a few moments to connect with the balanced,

Centered quality you've fostered through your acupressure practice.

From here,

If it feels good for you,

You're welcome to transition into your meditation practice,

If you wish.

Or if you feel ready to conclude this practice,

Then gently and slowly guide your awareness back to the weight,

Shape,

And form of your physical body.

And if your eyes are closed,

Gently and slowly,

Let them blink open.

Thank you so much for joining me for this practice.
