Hello,
I'm really glad you're here.
Before we talk about what you haven't finished,
Before your mind jumps to the list,
Before you start calculating what needs to be done,
Let's take a moment to pause.
If it feels okay,
Gently close your eyes or simply soften them.
Feel the surface beneath you,
The chair,
The bed,
The ground.
Let your body notice that it's supported.
You don't have to hold yourself up right now.
Take a slow breath in and let it out slowly and repeat that again.
There's always a part of you that always feels like you should be doing more.
Even right now.
Even during this.
It's subtle sometimes,
That low hum in the background,
That quiet push forward.
Don't stop,
Keep going,
Do better,
Be more.
I know that voice and I know how convincing it can be.
It probably helped you at one point.
It probably made you responsible,
Reliable,
Capable,
But it also made your body live on alert.
Shoulders slightly lifted,
Jaw a little tight,
Breath never fully deep.
So,
Right now,
Let's just notice.
Are your shoulders carrying something invisible?
Let them drop a little.
Is your jaw holding on?
Let it soften.
Are your hands clenched?
Uncurl them.
You don't have to grip life this tightly.
As you listen to this,
I want you to imagine I'm sitting across from you.
Not evaluating you,
Not measuring your productivity,
Not asking what you accomplished today.
Just sitting with you.
And I look at you and say,
You've been trying really hard.
Let that land.
Not sarcastically,
Not lightly.
You have been trying.
And maybe no one says that out loud.
There's often this belief underneath it all.
If I slow down,
I'll fall behind.
If I stop,
Everything will pile up.
If I rest,
I'll lose momentum.
If I do less,
I won't be enough.
That belief feels real in your body.
It speeds up your heart.
It tightens your chest.
It keeps you moving.
But what if that urgency is just an old strategy?
What if your body doesn't need to live in that gear anymore?
Take a breath with me.
In.
Long out.
That long exhale is telling your nervous system,
We are safe right now.
Let me tell you something gently.
Your worth has never been measured by how much you produce.
It has never been measured on how exhausted you are.
It has never been measured on how many things you carry without asking for help.
That's a story your nervous system learned.
And we can teach it something new.
I invite you to place one hand on your chest if that feels okay.
Feel your heartbeat.
That rhythm is enough.
That breath is enough.
You being here is enough.
You don't need to earn stillness.
You don't need to justify slowing down.
You don't need to deserve rest.
Imagine your body like a field that's been overworked.
Always producing.
Always growing.
Always giving.
At some point that field needs a season of lying fallow.
Not because it failed.
Because that's how it restores nutrients.
That's how it grows stronger.
Doing less is not giving up.
It's replenishing.
Now notice what happens in your body when you consider easing up.
Is there resistance?
A tightening?
A subtle panic?
That's okay.
That's just the part of you that learns survival through effort.
So speak to it gently.
I see you.
I know you're trying to protect me.
But we are safe now.
Take another breath.
Long exhale.
Feel your body respond.
You are allowed to move through life at a sustainable pace.
You are allowed to have space in your day.
You are allowed not to optimize every moment.
You are allowed to be a human being.
Not a machine.
Let that sink in.
Notice your breath now.
Has it softened?
Has something shifted even slightly?
That's your ventral vagal system waking up.
That's connection.
Safety.
Ease.
That's where healing lives.
I want you to hear this clearly.
You are not behind.
You are not failing.
You are not lazy.
You are learning.
Learning how to live without running yourself into the ground.
Learning how to exist without constantly proving.
Learning how to rest without guilt.
That is brave work.
I invite you to take one slow breath in.
And a long breath out.
Let your body feel supported.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes and carry this with you.
You do not have to exhaust yourself to matter.
Doing less can be wise.
Rest can be healing.
And you,
Just as you are,
Are enough.
