I'm really glad you pressed play.
If you're here.
There's a good chance your body feels tired.
But your mind won't stop moving.
Maybe you've been thinking about everything that still needs to be done.
The emails.
The Responsibilities.
The Conversations.
The unfinished tasks that seem to sit in the background of your mind.
And even though your body wants rest.
Your mind keeps saying.
Don't forget.
You still have more to do.
If that's where you are right now.
I want you to know something first.
You are not doing anything wrong.
Your nervous system is simply trying to keep track of everything that feels important.
So instead of fighting your mind,
We're going to gently help your body settle.
And we'll do it together.
If it feels comfortable,
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
And let a long breath out.
Again,
Breathing in slowly.
And breathing out.
Your body doesn't need to fall asleep right away.
It just needs a moment to slow down.
Now imagine placing your to-do list somewhere outside your body.
Not deleting it.
Not ignoring it.
Just placing it down for a moment.
Picture it,
Sitting on a table nearby.
All the tasks are still there.
But right now,
They're not in your hands.
You do not need to solve them in this moment.
Your mind can return to them later.
For now,
You are simply resting.
Bring your attention to your shoulders.
Notice if they feel lifted or tightened.
Let them soften just a little.
Even a small shift tells your nervous system you can begin to settle.
Now bring awareness to your jaw.
Let your teeth separate slightly.
Allow your tongue to rest gently in your mouth.
Your body is beginning to receive signals of calm.
Now notice your breath again.
You don't need a deep breath.
Just allow the exhale to be a little longer than the inhale.
Breathing in.
And slowly breathing out.
Longer exhales help the body move out of doing mode and into rest.
You're teaching your nervous system that it can pause.
Now bring awareness to your chest.
Feel the rise and fall of your breath.
Notice the rhythm of your body.
Even if your mind still has thoughts.
Your body can still rest.
Thoughts can exist without needing your attention.
They can drift by like clouds.
And you don't have to follow them.
If a thought about your to-do list appears,
Gently acknowledge it.
You might say quietly in your mind.
I'll return to that tomorrow.
And bring your attention back to your breath.
Back to your body.
Back to this moment.
Your brain is learning that it doesn't need to solve everything right now.
Now imagine your nervous system like a dimmer switch.
All day long and has been turned up.
Focused.
Active.
Now we slowly begin to turn the dial down.
Not all at once.
Just gradually.
Your heart rate slows.
Your breath deepens.
Your muscles soften.
The mind begins to quiet.
Take a slow breath in.
And let a long breath out.
Feel the weight of your body supported beneath you.
You are allowed to rest.
Rest is not laziness.
Rest is how your body restores energy for tomorrow.
And tomorrow will come at its own time and space.
You don't need to live it tonight.
Now imagine a calm wave moving slowly through your body.
From your head.
Through your shoulders.
Into your chest.
Down your belly.
Through your legs.
And into your feet.
Every part of your body is receiving the message that it can soften.
That it can let go of the day.
Take one slow breath in.
And a long breath out.
Feel the quiet beginning to settle inside you.
Even if your mind isn't perfectly silent,
Your body can rest.
And sometimes,
That is enough.
You are allowed to pause.
You are allowed to put things down.
And your body deserves the chance to recover from the day.
Rest is not something you earn.
It is something you need.
And right now,
You are giving it to yourself.
When you're ready,
Allow your body to drift into sleep.
Or simply remain here in a calm space.
Your to-do list will still be there tomorrow.
But right now.
You deserve rest.
