Astrologically,
The spring equinox marks the beginning of the zodiac calendar,
Where the light of day and the darkness of night are exactly balanced.
Symptoms that come to mind during the spring equinox are transition from darkness to light,
Balance,
Renewal,
Fresh starts,
Emergence,
Birth,
Opening,
Potential.
So we will connect to these elements as they are reflected in the phases of our own lives,
As well as the phases of the natural world.
Take this meditation as an opportunity for a fresh start energetically,
A reminder to take stock of what's important,
What truly matters,
And a reminder that there is a calm,
Peaceful place within each of us that's accessible at all times.
Close your eyes,
Make your breath long and full.
Allow my words to paint a story within your awareness,
Allowing your mind to be an open canvas.
First,
Paint a sky in your mind,
The most open sky you've ever seen,
The horizon stretched as far as you can see in all directions,
A blue dome overhead with a deep blue hue on the edges of the landscape and a light blue in the center of the sky above your head.
At the edge of the horizon,
There might be snow-capped mountains,
Red rocks,
Or open plains,
Whatever resonates with you the most in this moment.
There are a few wispy white clouds passing by,
But nothing to block the sunshine,
Which is the absolute perfect temperature.
You turn your face to the sun and let it warm your cheeks.
All around you,
The land is green,
Rolling hills with scattered trees dotted with light green buds on all of their branches,
Fields of barely budding green grasses and plants as far as the eye can see.
Take a deep breath in and exhale.
It smells like rain and fresh air all around you.
Take a few moments here to breathe in the imagery.
Feeling fresh air and exhaling a feeling of expansiveness.
You look down and notice a small mound of soil.
It's rich and moist and full of nutrients.
You get down on your hands and knees and scoop the soil into your palms and bring it up to your nose and smell it.
Some of the dirt slips between your fingers.
And you're reminded of being a child and the playful curiosity you had by simply playing in the dirt.
You begin to mix and mulch the soil with your own hands,
But not a care in the world of getting your hands dirty.
You patiently pick out small sticks,
Pine needles and toss out any rocks into the surrounding fields.
This plot of soil is your creation from winter.
Winter was the time of turning inwards,
The time of being blanketed by the darkness and nourished by it.
In preparation for spring,
You continue to stir this soil,
Bringing an airy lightness to what was once cold and buried for months.
From your pocket,
Pull out a handful of seeds.
You look down at the palm of your hand and marvel at how tiny and fragile they look.
One by one,
You pinch each small seed in your fingers and gently press it beneath the surface of the soil.
Once all of them are planted,
You dust off your hands and sit comfortably on a nearby rock or bench.
As you close your eyes,
Imagine your seeds cozy and nestled in their dark soil beds.
You picture each seed expanding.
Roots begin to break through their shells and branch off in all directions beneath the Earth's crust.
As they continue to grow downwards,
They intertwine with the root system of all the other surrounding plants and the vast mycelium network,
A root system that has been thriving for generations beyond your own.
The small but mighty tendrils of the roots spiral in all directions,
Entangling themselves with the rest of the Earth's root systems and its ancient wisdom and knowledge.
Then,
From the center of each seed,
A bright green sprout begins to reach.
It draws its strength from the stability of its roots,
Which is upwards towards the sun.
Sprouts emerge through the soil and are instantly illuminated by the sunshine.
You lift your eyes to see a beautiful patch of brightly colored flowers,
Blues,
Pinks,
Yellows and oranges.
Perhaps you can hear the bees buzzing.
You can see butterflies violently fluttering,
Coming to land in delicate petals.
Take a few deep breaths,
Taking in the scenery and breathing it in with all of your senses.
Continue to let your mind rest in this meditative state.
Just like the roots of the plants that surround us,
We are all energetically connected.
When one of us suffers,
It affects us as a whole.
When one of us lifts our vibration,
We lift the vibration of the whole.
I will ask a few questions here to your subconscious state.
No need to answer,
Instead allowing these questions to sink into your subconscious and allow it to guide your experience in the coming days and in the coming season.
In your own life,
How can you prepare your soil for optimal growth this spring?
What rocks need to be tossed out of your plot of dirt?
What leaves need to be pruned from your plants,
Making room for new growth?
Old feelings,
Thought patterns,
Attachment to emotions that no longer serve you?
What can be trimmed away to encourage new growth in the garden of your life?
Recognize that these old and no longer suitable parts of yourself once served a purpose in your life.
Just like plants,
We need to prune ourselves of that which no longer serves our highest self to make room for that which does.
Just like the plants,
The old,
Trifled leaves,
Or stems,
Or rotten fruit will fall to the earth to be decomposed and transformed into new life.
Everything you've experienced up until this point in your life has made you who you are today.
Even the ugly parts have made your soil dense and nutrient rich.
It's all a part of you and it's perfectly imperfect and beautiful.
Take these last few moments to clean out a space by cleaning our space physically,
Energetically,
Emotionally.
We tell the universe,
I am ready.
I am open.
I am listening.
I welcome new growth.
I welcome new beginnings.
I lift my chin to the sun and choose to let it awaken and enliven me.
As we welcome spring in the natural world around us,
Allow your heart and your mind to welcome the spring within.
Let the flowers bloom in your consciousness.
Pay attention to what arises for you in the coming days and ask yourself,
What is seeking to be cultivated in this season of my life?
And know you are fully supported to begin again and again and again and again.
And so it is.
