Welcome.
This practice is for those moments when something gets under your skin.
When someone's words irritate you.
When you feel hurt,
Frustrated.
Disappointed.
Or angry.
When you notice yourself reacting more strongly.
Than you'd like,
But you're not quite sure why.
Instead of trying to push the feeling away,
This practice invites you to listen beneath it.
Because our emotions can give us clues about what matters to us.
What we may be needing.
And what is asking for her attention.
Take a moment to settle into a comfortable position.
Let your body soften just a little.
There is nothing you need to fix right now.
Instead,
We are going to practice listening.
If there is a recent moment you'd like to understand a little more deeply,
Bring it gently to mind.
Choose something manageable,
Not your most painful experience.
Just the moment that still carries a little emotional charge.
Get comfortable.
And take a slow,
Easy breath we are simply going to get curious.
Bring that moment to mind.
Notice what happens in your body as you remember it.
Perhaps there's tension in your jaw.
The tightness in your chest eat in your face.
And not in your stomach.
Or maybe you notice very little.
Whatever you find,
Let it be there.
You don't have to change it.
Now instead of asking,
What's wrong with me?
Or What's wrong with them?
Try asking.
What am I feeling?
Keep the feeling in name angry,
Hurt,
Frustrated,
Lonely.
Overwhelmed.
Disappointed.
Unappreciated.
Or something else There is no right answer.
Just notice what is true for you.
And now gently ask yourself What might this feeling be telling me?
Perhaps something important is missing.
Maybe you need to feel heard,
Understood.
Respect that.
Support that.
Connected.
Safe.
Free.
Maybe you need rest.
Space.
Perfection.
Recognition.
Or simply a moment to yourself.
You don't have to find the perfect answer.
Just to stay curious Our feelings aren't problems we always need to get rid of.
They can be messengers sometimes beneath anger There is a need to be undressed soon.
Beneath frustration and need for support.
Beneath earth,
A need for connection.
Beneath overwhelm.
A need for rest or space.
And sometimes simply recognizing the need can soften something inside us.
Take a slow breath.
And notice what changes when you move from judgment to curiosity.
Instead of.
They shouldn't have done that.
Perhaps.
.
.
Something important to me was missing.
Is set up.
I shouldn't feel this way.
Perhaps something in me is asking to be heard.
This is self empathy.
It doesn't mean agreeing with every thought or excusing every behavior.
It means being willing to listen deeply enough to understand what is happening within you.
And from that understanding you may have a little more space to choose how you respond.
You can still set a boundary.
You can still say no.
You can still ask for what you need but you don't have to do it from the first wave of reaction and this is where empathy for others begins.
The next time someone reacts strongly toward you,
You might remember There may be something important.
Underneath the reaction to.
You don't have to excuse their behavior,
You don't have to.
Fix their feelings.
Just remember that like you.
They may be carrying needs that haven't found their way.
Words yet.
Take one slow breath and notice what you are feeling right now and ask yourself what is this feeling trying to tell me about what matters to me You can carry this question with you today.
When irritation arises.
When disappointment appears,
When anger takes over,
Pause,
Listen,
Get curious,
And see if you can discover the language beneath the emotion.
Because sometimes what looks like a difficult feeling is simply something important inside you asking to be heard.
Remember that the next time a difficult emotion arises,
You can pause and to listen before you react you can ask.
What am I feeling?
What might this feeling be telling me?
What do I need?
Let your feelings become a language you can learn to understand.
Rather than something you have to silence or fight.
And from that understanding may you find a little more compassion to yourself and a little more space to meet others with empathy.
Take one final gentle breath And when you're ready,
Scody,
Return to your day.
It's Neeloo.
Thank you for practicing with me.
