Find a comfortable seated position.
Let your spine be upright but not rigid.
Relax the jaw.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Rest your hands gently.
Lower your gaze or close your eyes.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Inhale slowly through the nose.
Exhale gently through the mouth.
Again,
Inhale and exhale.
Let your body begin to settle.
Notice the support beneath you,
The rhythm of your breath.
If your mind wanders,
Gently guide it back.
No judgment,
Simply return.
Today we are reflecting on change.
Change is a constant part of life.
And yet it can feel uncomfortable,
Uncertain,
Even vulnerable.
Imagine a friendly snake.
As it grows,
Its old skin becomes too tight,
Too restrictive,
No longer a fit for what it is becoming.
And so the snake begins to shed.
This process is not instant.
It requires friction,
Patience,
And exposure.
For a time,
The snake is more vulnerable.
And yet this shedding is necessary because what awaits is new skin,
Better adapted,
More aligned,
More supportive of its life now.
In our own lives,
What might we be outgrowing and what might be asking to be released?
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
Now gently begin to imagine the snake moving slowly,
Steadily,
Its old skin beginning to loosen.
See the texture of it,
Dry,
Worn,
No longer fitting quite right.
This skin once protected the snake.
It once served a purpose.
Take a moment to acknowledge that.
Now gently bring your awareness inward.
Is there something in your life that feels like this old skin?
A pattern,
A belief,
A way of relating,
A role you've been playing that may have once protected you but now feels too tight or limiting?
You don't need to force an answer.
Just notice what arises.
Now imagine the process of shedding.
The snake moves against the earth,
Against surfaces that help loosen what is ready to go.
This part can feel uncomfortable.
There may be resistance,
Hesitation,
A desire to hold on.
Notice if any of that feels familiar.
Take a slow breath in.
And as you exhale,
Gently introduce the idea,
It's okay to outgrow what once protected me.
Again,
It's okay to release what no longer fits.
Now imagine a small part of that old skin beginning to loosen.
No rushing,
No force,
Just a natural process unfolding.
As this layer begins to release,
Notice what comes up in your body.
Is there vulnerability,
Uncertainty,
A sense of exposure?
Stay with that.
Change often comes with both discomfort and possibility.
Now imagine beneath that old layer,
There is new skin,
Sensitive,
Fresh,
More aligned with who you are now.
Take a moment to connect with that.
This new layer is not something you have to create.
It's already there,
Waiting.
As you breathe,
Imagine giving yourself permission to move through change at your own pace.
No rushing,
No forcing,
Just allowing.
Take a few slow breaths here.
Let yourself rest in the in-between space.
Not fully who you were,
Not fully who you are becoming.
And that is okay.
Gently ask yourself,
What am I being invited to release?
And what might be emerging as I allow change to happen?
Begin to bring awareness back to your body.
Notice your breath,
Your surroundings.
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes.
If your eyes are closed,
Slowly open them.
And as you move into your day,
See if you can carry this understanding with you.
Change may feel vulnerable,
But it is also a sign of growth.
May we trust the process of change.
May we release what no longer serves us.
And may we grow into what we are becoming with courage and care.
