Get comfortable.
Let your spine be upright but not rigid.
Relax your jaw.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Rest your hands wherever they feel most natural.
Gently lower your gaze or close your eyes.
Begin to notice your breath.
No need to change it.
Just observe.
Deep breath in through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
Again,
Inhale and exhale.
Allow your body to arrive.
Notice where your body is supported,
The ground beneath you,
The subtle movements of your breath.
Breathe.
When your mind wanders,
Gently notice and bring it back to your breath,
To my voice,
Or to this moment.
Today,
We are reflecting on resilience.
Resilience is not about being untouched by difficulty.
It is about continuing,
Even when conditions are not ideal.
Imagine a small green plant growing in a dark,
Neglected place,
Surrounded by dry earth,
Debris,
And concrete.
No one planted it intentionally.
No one is tending to it.
And yet,
It grows.
What allows something to grow in a place like that?
Is resilience something we force?
Or something that naturally emerges when even a small amount of support is present?
In your own life,
Where have you continued,
Even quietly,
Despite challenge?
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
Now,
Gently begin to imagine this scene,
A dim,
Quiet space,
Rough ground,
Scattered debris,
A place that feels forgotten.
And within it,
A small green plant.
Focus on this little plant.
See it clearly.
Notice its color,
Alive,
Vibrant,
In contrast to everything around it.
This plant does not rush.
It does not compare itself.
It simply grows.
Take a moment to sit with this image.
Now,
Gently begin to connect this image to yourself.
There may be parts of your life that have felt like this environment,
Dry,
Uncertain,
Unsupported.
Without needing to go into any experiences that are overwhelming,
Just acknowledge that.
And now,
Ask yourself,
What in me has continued to grow anyway?
Maybe it's your ability to keep showing up.
Maybe it's your capacity to feel.
Maybe it's your desire to heal,
To understand,
To care.
Notice where you feel that in your body.
Is there a place that feels even slightly alive,
Open,
Or steady?
Rest your attention there.
Just like this plant,
You do not need perfect conditions to grow.
Growth can happen in unlikely places.
And growth can happen in barren places.
Take a breath in.
And as you exhale,
Imagine giving that growing part of you just a little more space.
If there are parts of you that feel tired,
Stuck,
Or heavy,
See if they can simply exist alongside this small place of growth.
Just like the plant grows among rubble,
So can you.
Take a few more slow breaths here.
Let this image settle into you.
Ask yourself,
What does resilience mean to me?
And how might I begin to trust the parts of me that are already growing?
Begin to bring awareness back to your body.
Notice your breath,
Your surroundings,
The feeling of being here.
If your eyes are closed,
Gently blink them open.
As you move into the rest of your day,
See if you can carry this image with you.
The understanding that even in difficult environments,
Something in you continues to grow.
May we learn to trust our own resilience.
May we nurture even the smallest signs of growth within ourselves.
And may that growth gently extend into the world around us.
