Welcome to day one of my postpartum healing and bonding meditation series.
Wow,
Days ago you brought life into this world and today you've chosen to show up and do something for you.
Be proud of yourself for taking this step.
Today's meditation is a 10-minute guided grounding meditation.
I created it to support you in these very early days after birth,
To help you reconnect with your body and still your probably very overactive and overtired mind.
Let's begin by finding a comfy position,
Either seated or lying down,
With as many pillows and blankets or bolsters or whatever you need for the support your body needs to rest comfortably.
And when you're ready,
And if you can,
Gently close your eyes and allow your awareness to come inward.
Taking these first few moments to really check in with yourself,
Physically,
Mentally,
Emotionally,
And energetically.
Noticing how you feel without judgment.
Simply notice it's probably been a little while since you last checked in with yourself,
And that's okay.
So just take this moment here to check in.
Now,
Now that you've checked in with yourself,
We'll shift awareness to the breath.
Bringing some intention to the breath,
Start by taking a nice deep inhale in through your nose.
Feeling your chest and belly expand fully.
Exhaling slowly and completely through your mouth.
Possibly letting out a sigh or ahhh.
How does that feel?
Again,
Inhaling deeply,
Holding a bit at the top now,
And exhaling completely.
Just letting go of any tension you're holding,
Especially in your jaws and shoulders.
Let's repeat that a few more times on your own time.
Deep nourishing breaths.
Complete exhales.
Tension releasing.
Now settle into a gentle rhythm of breathing.
With each inhale,
Inviting your body to relax a little deeper.
With each exhale,
Feeling the release of anything that doesn't serve you in this moment.
Picture yourself standing barefoot on rich,
Warm earth.
The ground beneath you is firm,
Solid,
And supportive.
With each deep breath,
Visualize roots gently growing from the soles of your feet or the base of your spine.
These roots stretch down,
Winding through the soil deeper and deeper,
Connecting you with the nurturing strength of the earth.
As you inhale another deep breath,
Feel the calming energy of the earth traveling up these roots,
Reaching into your body,
Bringing stability and a sense of peace.
This energy is warm and grounding,
Like an embrace.
With each exhale,
Imagine releasing any lingering tension,
Worry,
Or exhaustion down through your roots,
Letting the earth just take them away,
Dissolving them completely.
Stay here for a moment,
Breathing in support,
Breathing out any heaviness.
Know that you are rooted,
Held,
And safe here.
As you continue to feel the deep sense of grounding and connection to Mother Earth,
Let these words sink in,
Grounded and at peace.
I am supported by the strength within me and all around me.
I am present in this moment,
And that is enough.
Now,
Very gently and slowly,
Bring your awareness back to your body.
Feel the gentle rise and fall of your breath.
You can wiggle your fingers and toes,
Maybe take a nice juicy stretch.
And when you're ready,
You can go ahead and thank you for taking this time for yourself.
I sincerely hope you can carry this feeling of grounding and peace with you as you continue your day,
And know that you can return to this place of calm whenever,
Wherever,
And as often as you need.
Thank you so much for listening.
