Lesson 10 Great ways to say no We know how challenging it can be to be pulled in all different directions.

Your family,

Your work,

Your hobbies,

Your friends and let's not forget your online presence.

You are trying to be intentional with your time and you need to make sure that you protect it.

Life will bring you way more things to do than you have time for.

So you need to learn how to say no to the things that don't fit your desired lifestyle.

Have you considered that maybe the reason you are busy is because you love to please people?

Stop for a moment and consider how many things you do for yourself in a day.

Now I want you to consider how much you do for others in a day.

Compare the list.

Here are 5 ways to politely say no or buy yourself more time to think it over.

Please repeat them out loud with me while I read them.

Right now is not a good time.

Can you follow up with me in a few days?

Thank you for thinking of me.

May I have some time to think about it?

That's not ideal for me but I know someone who would be great.

I appreciate your time but this is not something that interests me.

Based on my previous experience,

I know that this is not for me.

Did you repeat them with me?

How did you feel when you were repeating them?

Did you feel anxious at the thought of saying no?

Don't worry because that's completely normal.

The more you practice these responses,

The more confident you will become with others.

At the end of the day,

You want to make sure you can feel good about protecting your time because we all know that if you don't decide on how to spend your time,

Someone else will decide for you and most likely you won't like it.

Say no is not about being selfish.

Say no is not about neglecting the things that you should do.

Say no means that you know where your time should go because you have created your own plan.

You have taken the time to do your creation.

You have taken the time to create your ideal week and you have reasons of why you do the things you do.

You want to focus on important things.

You want to create changes and those changes require new habits and new routines from your part.

So when you are saying no,

You are just basically protecting the things that you want to be working on so that you can see the results that you want to see in your life because you know at the end of the day,

Those are the ones that are going to make you feel happy.

That's the lifestyle that you want to have and everything else is not a priority for you right now.

Maybe down the road things change and things that are not important to you right now,

They do become important and then you will say yes but you have the choice.

You always have the choice to say yes or no.

So remember that.

SAVED….. So I can repeat the ways on how to say no b/c some ppl just don’t get it. If you say no once or say “you’re not ready” once they find ways around your no to bait you in to say yes! SMH THANK YOU! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

This was a lot of wisdom in a short time. I listened to it several times to make sure it sunk in. I especially enjoyed the comparison to how much we do for others versus ourselves. Eye-opening! This has encouraged me to carve out some more time for a project I would like to work on. My only suggestion would be to take a longer pause between the phrases to give us more time to say them out loud after you.. Thank you!!

Very good. This does take practice if you're not used to it and a lot of people (or a few needy ones) want your attention.

Excellent! Thank you so much. The ability to say “no” is so important for those whose kind personalities tend to attract others who try to over-ask of time and drain positive energy.
