Thank you for sharing this space with me,
This space of presence and possibility.
My name is Elliot.
I will be your guide for this meditation.
I am honored to be here with you today as part of your inner journey.
I celebrate each and every one of you for choosing to show up,
For yourself,
For your growth,
And for your inner well-being.
You are probably here listening now because at some level you sense that something within you is not fully aligned.
Perhaps there are thoughts,
Emotions,
Or patterns that do not quite reflect what you know to be true.
And in that subtle misalignment,
There can be tension,
Confusion,
Or a quiet sense of disconnection.
This meditation is an invitation not to fix yourself,
Not to become someone new,
But to begin seeing clearly what is already here.
Because authenticity does not come from effort,
It comes from awareness.
In this meditation I will guide you into a deeper observation of your inner world,
Where honesty is not something you force,
But something that naturally arises when you are willing to look without resistance.
And as you begin to see more clearly,
You may notice that what you have been seeking is not something you need to create,
But something that reveals itself when nothing false is being held onto.
That is what I offer you now,
A space of clarity,
Of recognition,
And inner alignment through awareness.
If you are ready,
Let us begin.
Wherever you are in the world right now,
Take a moment to arrive.
You have chosen to pause,
You have chosen to turn inward.
That choice alone is powerful.
This meditation is simple,
It is gentle,
It is for everyone,
Whether this is your first time sitting or your thousandth.
Find a comfortable seated position,
You may sit on a chair with both feet on the floor or cross-legged on the ground,
Keeping your spine tall but not rigid,
Let your hands rest comfortably.
If it feels safe to do so,
Gently close your eyes,
Let us start by gently tuning into the breath,
Become aware of your breathing and allow it to deepen slightly,
Breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.
Observe your lower abdomen expanding first,
Then your ribcage.
You are breathing consciously now and you are the breath,
Filling up with fresh prana and relinquishing negative energy.
Feel this transaction taking place,
Inhale fresh prana and exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Exhale relinquish negativity.
Feel the subtle movement in the body,
Chest rising,
Shoulders gently unwinding and begin to sense that you are a side world to fade slightly into the background,
There is nowhere to go,
Nothing to achieve,
For the next few minutes your only role is to be.
Before we continue,
I would like to share a quote,
The first step to the good is to be authentic.
The first step to the good is to be authentic.
This quote reminds me that authenticity is not something we perform,
It is something we uncover on our way to the truth,
The good stuff in life.
Often we move through life with subtle layers of self-protection,
Ideas about who we should be,
How we should feel,
What we should present to the world.
And in doing so,
We can become slightly removed from what is actually true within us.
Authenticity is not found in constructing a better version of yourself,
It is revealed in the willingness to build a stable foundation and see clearly,
Starting from within.
When we slow down,
When we soften our grip on identity,
When we allow ourselves even a few moments of honest observation,
Something begins to realign,
We start to notice what we truly feel,
We begin to recognize the difference between what is real and what is being held up in the mind.
And in that recognition,
There is a quiet return to something simple,
Grounded,
And whole.
Let us begin building that foundation now.
We will begin with a very simple breathing rhythm to calm the nervous system.
Inhale through your nose for a count of four,
Pause gently for two,
Exhale slowly through your nose for six.
Let us begin.
Inhale,
Two,
Three,
Your body begins to receive a message.
It is safe to relax.
Your breath is always happening,
Your breath is always present.
Your breath is an expression of your aliveness.
Your breath is always happening now,
Your breath is always present.
Your breath is an expression of your aliveness.
Stay here for several rounds,
Merge with the stillness,
Rest in your presence.
Stay here for several rounds,
Merge with the stillness,
Rest in your presence.
Honesty and Authenticity Honesty relates to truth,
Whereas authenticity is in the eyes of the beholder.
The complex relationship between honesty and authenticity must begin with a few definitions.
An honest person is one who is sincere and truthful.
An authentic person is one whose behavior reflects his or her deep feelings,
Core values,
And inner qualities.
We are complex beings with complex ways of expressing ourselves.
An individual's true self consists of many changing thoughts,
Feelings,
And identities,
Some of which he or she may not be conscious of or understand.
You can even be authentically dishonest,
Meaning to tell lies in a way that feels true to oneself.
There is a common idea that being authentic means always being honest,
But if you look closely,
You may notice that sometimes you feel authentic even when you are not fully truthful,
And sometimes you try to be honest.
But it feels disconnected.
So what is authenticity really?
You're invited to spend the next few moments exploring this within yourself.
Plainly and honestly ask yourself,
What is authenticity?
What does it mean to be authentic?
What is authenticity?
What does it mean to be authentic?
We are not always honest with ourselves.
In fact,
Self-deception is a major obstacle to becoming aware of inner states and communicating them to others.
For instance,
We often hold onto unrealistically positive or negative self-beliefs,
Which require interpreting new information in ways that are biased in favor of keeping the beliefs.
Since others don't have access to our inner states,
Only we do,
And in a limited way,
They cannot tell with certainty whether we are being authentic.
Therefore,
They rely on mental shortcuts and rules of thumb that rely heavily on context.
Is there a situation that you can recall where your mental image of another person or yourself did not match up or seem consistent with the individual's behavior?
You're invited to spend the next few moments exploring this within yourself.
Plainly and honestly ask yourself,
When did an individual's behavior not make sense,
Seem predictable,
And or consistent with what we know about them?
You only feel truly authentic when your honesty aligns with who you are inside.
It is not just about being honest,
It is about that honesty being consistent with your thoughts,
Feelings,
And actions.
Real authenticity comes when two things are present,
You are being honest,
And everything within you is in alignment.
When those match up,
You feel real,
Grounded,
And true to yourself.
Authenticity begins not with what you say,
But with what you are willing to see within yourself.
What matters the most is becoming more aware of your inner states and being true to ourselves.
Let us experientially explore this topic.
Gently bring your awareness inward.
Notice what is present within you right now.
Not what should be there,
Not what you there,
But what is actually here.
Are their thoughts moving?
Are their emotions sitting quietly beneath the surface?
Just observe.
And as you observe,
Notice this.
Is there any part of your experience that you tend to avoid?
Clearly label,
Dismiss,
Or move past?
No need to fix it,
Just notice.
The way you speak to yourself.
Are there moments when you tell yourself something that is not entirely true?
Perhaps to feel safer,
Perhaps to maintain a certain image,
Perhaps to avoid discomfort.
You're invited to spend the next few moments exploring this within yourself.
Are there moments when you tell yourself something that is not entirely true?
There are moments when you tell yourself something that is not entirely true.
This is not a mistake.
This is part of being human.
This is part of being human,
But awareness is where transformation begins.
Simply acknowledge what is real for you in this moment.
If there is restlessness,
Breathe with it.
If there is peace,
Sit with it.
If there is confusion,
Surrender to it.
What is real for you in this moment?
Let this moment be exactly as it is.
This is honesty.
Not something you perform,
But something you allow.
Longer exhale.
Now ask yourself gently,
If I were not trying to appear a certain way,
If I were not trying to protect an image,
What would I actually feel right now?
No need to analyze it.
Just let it be seen.
If I were not trying to appear a certain way,
If I were not trying to protect an image,
What would I feel?
Authenticity is not about perfection.
Authenticity is not about perfection.
As you begin to see more clearly,
Being subtle begins to shift,
There is less effort,
Less internal friction.
And in that space,
There's a quiet sense of abundance.
Not because something was added,
But because something false was no longer held onto as tightly.
Before we close,
I would like to share a quote by Carl Rogers.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am,
Then I can change.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am,
Then I can change.
Let those words settle within you.
Because authenticity is not something that you achieve with force.
It is something that naturally unfolds.
When you are willing to see and accept what is here.
Take a gentle breath in.
And as you exhale,
Allow these affirmations to arise quietly within you.
I am willing to see myself clearly.
I allow what is true within me to be known.
I do not need to pretend or perform.
I meet myself with honesty and awareness.
And in this awareness,
I return to alignment.
Rest here for a few moments.
Let these words not be something you repeat,
But something you recognize.
Because what you are seeking is already here,
Waiting to be seen.
Now gently begin to deepen your breath.
Feel the air filling the belly.
Notice that you are supported by the ground beneath you.
Notice that you are breathing without effort.
Begin to gently wiggle your fingers,
Roll your shoulders softly.
And if your eyes are closed,
You can slowly open them when you are ready.
But do not rush.
Take one more conscious breath in.
Notice how you feel now compared to when you began.
Meditation is not about escaping life.
It is about meeting it with clarity.
Even five minutes of presence can shift your entire day.
Imagine what a consistent daily practice can do.
Thanking yourself for showing up,
Carry this steadiness with you.
And remember,
You can return to your breath at any moment.
