Thank you for sharing this space with me,
This space of presence and possibility.
My name is Elliot,
I will be your guide for this meditation.
I am honored to be here with you today as part of your inner journey.
I celebrate each and every one of you for choosing to show up,
For yourself,
For your growth,
And for your inner well-being.
You are probably here listening now because at some level you sense that something within you is not fully aligned.
Perhaps there are thoughts,
Emotions,
Or patterns that do not quite reflect what you know to be true.
And in that subtle misalignment,
There can be tension,
Confusion,
Or a quiet sense of disconnection.
This meditation is an invitation not to fix yourself,
Not to become someone new,
But to begin seeing clearly what is already here.
Because authenticity does not come from effort,
It comes from awareness.
In this meditation I will guide you into a deeper observation of your inner world,
Where honesty is not something you force,
But something that naturally arises when you are willing to look without resistance.
If you are ready,
Let us begin.
Wherever you are in the world right now,
Take a moment to arrive.
You have chosen to pause.
You have chosen to turn inward.
That choice alone is powerful.
This meditation is simple,
It is gentle,
It is for everyone,
Whether this is your first time sitting or your thousandth.
Find a comfortable seated position.
You may sit on a chair with both feet on the floor or cross-legged on the ground.
Keeping your spine tall but not rigid,
Let your hands rest comfortably.
If it feels safe to do so,
Gently close your eyes.
Let us start by gently tuning into the breath,
Your breathing,
And allow it to deepen slightly,
Breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.
Observe your lower abdomen expanding first,
Then your ribcage.
You are breathing consciously now,
And you are the breath.
Filling up with fresh prana.
Feel this transaction taking place.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
Inhale fresh prana.
Exhale,
Relinquish negativity.
It seems to me that authenticity is not something we perform.
It is something we uncover on our way to the truth.
The good stuff in life.
Life with subtle layers of self-protection.
Ideas about who we should be.
How we should feel.
What we should present to the world.
And in doing so,
We can become slightly removed from what is actually true within us.
Authenticity is not found in constructing a better version of yourself.
It is revealed in the willingness to build a stable foundation and see clearly.
Starting from within.
Let us begin building that foundation now.
We will begin with a very simple breathing rhythm to calm the nervous system.
Inhale through your nose for a count of four.
Pause gently for two.
Exhale slowly through your nose for six.
Let us begin.
Inhale.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Pause.
Two.
Exhale.
Two.
Three.
Continue at your own pace.
Longer,
Soft inhalation.
No strain.
As the exhale becomes slightly longer than the inhale your body begins to receive a message.
It is safe to relax.
Inhale.
Your breath is an anchor.
Your breath is an expression of your aliveness.
Your breath is always happening now.
Your breath is always present.
Your breath is an expression of your aliveness.
Honesty relates to truth whereas authenticity is in the eyes of the beholder.
The complex relationship between honesty and authenticity must begin with a few definitions.
An honest person is worth one who is sincere and truthful.
An authentic person is one whose behavior reflects his or her deep feelings,
Core values,
And inner qualities.
We are complex beings with complex ways of expressing ourselves.
An individual's true self consists of many changing thoughts,
Feelings,
And identities some of which he or she may not be conscious of or understand.
You can even be authentically dishonest meaning to tell lies in a way that feels true to oneself.
There is a common idea that being authentic means always being honest but if you look closely you may notice that sometimes you feel authentic even when you are not fully truthful and sometimes you try to be honest but it feels disconnected.
So what is authenticity really?
You're invited to spend the next few moments exploring this within yourself.
Plainly and honestly ask yourself what is authenticity?
What does it mean to be authentic?
What is authenticity?
What does it mean to be authentic?
We are not always honest with ourselves.
In fact,
Self-deception is a major obstacle to becoming aware of inner states and communicating them to others.
Is there a situation that you can recall where your mental image of another person or yourself did not match up or seem consistent with the individual's behavior?
You're invited to spend the next few moments exploring this within yourself.
Plainly and honestly ask yourself when did an individual's behavior not make sense seem predictable and or consistent with what we know about them?
Authenticity begins not with what you say but with what you are willing to see within yourself.
What matters the most is becoming more aware of your inner states and being true to ourselves.
Let us experientially explore this topic.
Gently bring your awareness inward.
Notice what is present within you right now.
Are there emotions sitting quietly beneath the surface?
Part of your experience that you tend to avoid,
Label,
Dismiss or move past?
Are there moments when you tell yourself something that is not entirely true?
Perhaps to feel safer?
Perhaps to maintain a certain image?
Perhaps to avoid discomfort?
You're invited to spend the next few moments exploring this within yourself.
Are there moments when you tell yourself something that is not entirely true?
Are there moments when you tell yourself something that is not entirely true?
Simply acknowledge what is real for you in this moment.
If there is restlessness,
Breathe with it.
If there is peace,
Sit with it.
If there is confusion,
Surrender to it.
What is real for you in this moment?
Let this moment be exactly as it is.
This is honesty.
Now ask yourself gently,
If I were not trying to appear a certain way,
If I were not trying to protect an image,
What would I actually feel right now?
And let whatever comes up to come up,
To analyze it,
Just let it be seen.
If I were not trying to appear a certain way,
If I were not trying to protect an image,
What would I.

Authenticity is not about perfection.
Authenticity is not about perfection.
As you begin to see more clearly,
Something subtle begins to shift.
There is less effort,
Less internal friction,
And in that space there is a quiet sense of abundance.
Not because something was added,
But because something false was no longer held onto as tightly.
Authenticity is not about perfection.
Before we close,
I would like to share a quote by Carl Rogers.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am,
Then I can change.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am,
Then I can.
.
.
Let those words settle within you.
Because authenticity is not something that you achieve with force.
It is something that naturally unfolds when you are willing to see and accept what is here.
I will allow these affirmations to arise quietly within you.
I am willing to see myself clearly.
I allow what is true within me to be known.
I do not need to pretend or perform.
I meet myself with honesty and awareness.
And in this awareness I return to alignment.
Now gently begin to deepen your breath.
Notice that you are supported by the ground beneath you.
Notice that you are breathing without effort.
Begin to gently wiggle your fingers.
Roll your shoulders softly.
And if your eyes are closed,
You can slowly open them when you are ready.
But do not rush.
Take one more conscious breath in.
And a full,
Complete breath out.
Notice how you feel now compared to when you began.
Meditation is not about escaping life.
It is about meeting it with clarity.
Even five minutes of presence can shift your entire day.
Imagine what a consistent daily practice can do.
Thanking yourself for showing up carry this steadiness with you and remember you can return to your breath at any moment.
