Welcome.
Find a comfortable position for this meditation.
Maintain a straight back with its natural curves and then gently close the eyes and mouth.
Before we begin,
It's important to remind ourselves that the beginner to meditation may not realize that they were once already a master of being meditative.
During the course of our lives,
We have inevitably experienced being in a meditative state.
Meditation is not something you do.
It is not an act.
It is not something you learn.
Meditation is a certain quality of being alive.
Before we were programmed and filled with all the silly nonsense of this world,
We were in touch with a much different quality of life and what it is to be alive.
So with learning and being in a meditative state,
We're truly just reminding ourselves of our own inherent intelligence,
Shedding the layers that no longer serve us and delivering ourselves to a blissful condition where life can touch us at our core again and we feel so alive and full of joy,
Gratitude and wonder.
Reaching a meditative state is not something that one does,
But it is something that one becomes.
You can try this guided meditation in any space you're comfortable in and at any time you wish.
By the end,
You will feel refreshed,
Relaxed and capable of handling day to day life situations.
Begin by becoming aware of the body,
Whether you're standing,
Sitting or lying down.
The breath is relaxed and natural and you're just noticing how the body is in this present moment.
Take a breath of air and then let it out.
Allow the body to relax and simply notice the sensations that are here as you stop to notice.
As you sit quietly,
You'll notice that there are different thoughts,
Emotions and stimuli.
They come up and then pass,
Just like my words.
Let all incoming stimuli,
Including thoughts and body sensations,
Gently surface and be presented to you.
As you become aware of them,
Acknowledge and release,
Then return to the breath.
Allow your breath to gently rise and recede like waves in the ocean.
Your focus is the breath.
Your attention is within this very moment.
Allow your breath for the next few moments.
Let all incoming stimuli,
Including thoughts and body sensations,
Be presented to you.
Let all incoming stimuli,
Including thoughts and body sensations,
Be presented to you.
Mindfulness encourages us to perceive all of life with a sense of wonder because we soon realize that from being in a state of mindfulness,
It is the mind which can either turn a blessing into a disaster or a disaster into a blessing.
Turn the darkest moment of our day into beauty or our most cherished magnificence into a monster.
It's all in the way we perceive things and this knowledge sets us free.
Through reaching a certain level of mindfulness,
We are reminded that when we set the right conditions within ourselves,
Life is extraordinary and there are no ordinary moments.
With this comes endless possibilities and excitement for what we still have not sensed and still do not even know.
So in this practice,
Allow yourself to explore the physical body as you would for the first time.
In with your breath.
Can you sense the breath as it enters and fills your lungs?
Can you sense the breath as it exits and leaves your lungs ready to take in another breath?
Can you sense how the temperature of the air that you breathe changes once it's exiting the nose?
What sort of taste is in your mouth?
Is it dry or wet in there?
Become aware of the areas of your body which are making contact with the surface beneath you.
Become aware of the sensations on your skin.
Is there direct sunlight?
What quality of air do you feel?
Become aware of the texture of your clothes against your skin.
Notice how it feels to be sitting or lying down in this position,
Exploring all of these sensations.
Does this feel like the first time you've experienced this body in this way?
Is it always the same to you?
Or is it different every single time?
If we are fully present and our attention is not being diluted from the monkey mind,
From distractions,
From our energies not being aligned and working together,
Then life just passes us by.
We get caught up in the silly things of our psychological mind.
Now is a good time to just drop all that.
Allow yourself to experience all of the sensations that are happening in each moment without judgment,
Criticism or interpretation.
The mind wants to categorize and analyze,
But the mind is not needed for this practice.
We are sensing this moment with the body,
With the breath,
Which holds this effortless quality about life.
You don't need to do anything in order to breathe naturally.
Allow your natural rhythmic breath to take place and gently carry you into the present moment.
In this kind and relaxed,
Attentive space,
Let yourself become aware of the fact that you don't need anything besides this body.
You need nothing more than this body to experience endless wonder,
Infinite peace and unimaginable bliss.
It is all happening within you and we merely need to show up and be present to experience it as reflections of the infinite unknown.
We can find the answers to our deepest questions within ourselves.
We can do it if we set up the right foundation to be meditative,
To realize our perfection in our aloneness.
We don't need to add anything or do anything.
If we stare into the cosmos,
We will see that we're also made of stardust and infinite space.
To close this meditation,
Take three deep breaths and bring your awareness back to this body.
As you leave this space,
Try to maintain this gentle connection with your body.
Namaste.
