A grounding and inspiring meditation to set you up for your work. Focus on anchoring through your feet, connecting to the sky above, and sensing into the support of your lineage and teachers. Come into your own body, here, now, and remember your intention for the wonderful, healing work you bring to the world. This is inspired by a practice shared with me at Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork.

Okay,

So to begin,

Stand tall,

Planting your feet firmly on the ground.

Notice where your feet make contact with the floor,

Across the balls,

Your toes,

Your heels and you might like to rock forward and back or from side to side.

You find in that way the centre of your feet and a place where you may want to rest,

Where you feel your stance is grounded,

Well planted.

From that foundation,

You might sense a lift through your inner arches,

A rebound,

An uplift.

So your feet can be a springboard for the reach and stretch of your whole body.

Sense your height,

Your breath,

Your potential for movement,

A grounding through your feet,

The rebound,

The support up your legs,

Through your spine,

All the way to the top of your head.

And you can take your attention into your feet at any time,

Adjusting,

Wobbling,

Replanting,

Moving.

Now become aware of yourself in your entirety,

Imagining your whole body,

Sensing your wholeness,

Your body,

Your bones,

Muscle and skin,

Front and back,

Your sides,

From your heart and your internal organs,

All the way to your extremities,

Your boundaries.

You may tune into your breathing now,

Watching it come subtly,

Naturally.

If you want to take a more conscious,

Slightly fuller breath and a deliberate exhale,

Letting go,

Feel free to do so,

Perhaps a few of those.

And now I'd like you to imagine a thread or a plumb line,

An energetic connection,

However you'd like to imagine it,

Down through your legs,

Through the centres of your feet,

Perhaps focusing on this point below the ball of your foot,

In line with your second toes,

Bubbling spring point.

Imagine this line,

This thread going down through the floor,

Down through the earth,

Past the roots of trees and plants,

Past pebbles and sand,

Layers of soil,

Through deep strata of rock and the air pockets of underground caverns,

Down,

Down,

Down,

Towards the centre of the earth.

This deep,

Solid support is available.

This connection is always here.

You can trace back up to your feet on the earth's surface,

Pressing down,

Rooting,

Finding support and lifting you up,

Rebounding from this stability.

See yourself as grounded and connected as a tree.

And now imagine a second energetic connection.

You may imagine a coloured thread,

A beam of light and this one connects seamlessly to our grounding line and it goes up,

Up.

I like to imagine it going up the front of my spine,

Through my body,

Behind my heart and lungs,

Through my neck,

Throat softens,

Up through the head,

The back of the skull and upwards to the heavens.

So you imagine in your way a line of energy passing through you and out through the crown of your head.

From there it rises,

Goes up through the atmosphere,

Through the clouds,

The weather systems,

Into the heavens,

The universe.

You might imagine the arc of the constellations and through this connection may we receive inspiration,

A sense of awe,

Connection to all that is mysterious and beyond us,

The transpersonal,

The divine.

Perhaps let your attention rest at the crown of your head.

Crown of your head,

The portal to this line of energy and simultaneously maybe you can attend to the soles of your feet,

Earthed,

Rooted,

Connected to the sky above and the earth below.

Maybe there is one direction that draws you deeper,

One that feels weaker,

One that you want to focus more on now,

One whose qualities you need more today.

Now moving your awareness down from the crown of your head,

Perhaps bathing your whole head and skull in your awareness,

Your hair,

Your skin,

Finding your third eye centre between your eyebrows and from here between your eyebrows we can imagine a third thread extending backwards and ever so slightly downwards,

Imagining this connection from your third eye centre back through your skull just below the occiput,

That ridge at the top of your neck and it travels back,

Back,

Back and beyond connecting you to your ancestors,

Those who have come before.

These might be your teachers,

Your guides,

Your inspiration,

Generations of family,

Caregivers,

Wisdom keepers,

Storytellers and all those who have practised,

All those whose learnings and teachings we are so grateful for,

This long lineage of healers and body workers,

Seekers,

This lineage knows no bounds and know that this is supporting you,

You're in connection with these teachings,

This wisdom and support.

Spatially you might imagine this thread,

This connection goes back and back almost to reach the horizon,

Connecting to the brim of the earth,

So simultaneously bearing in mind these three connections and anchors to the sky,

To the heavens,

To the earth,

The soles of your feet,

From the back of the skull out to the horizon,

Eons back,

The support of those who have come before is at your back and here you are strongly connected to yourself,

Yourself and your body here now.

These lines travel through you,

They meet in you now and you're sensing your aliveness,

Your individuality,

Up your legs,

Your spine,

Your back,

Your front.

Now bring your attention with these anchors in place to the front of your body and the space before you,

Maybe your arms are loose and open,

The front of your body soft,

You're here to do your work.

What is your intention for this work today?

Remind yourself of why you are here.

Perhaps softening into this unknown in front of you,

Open to whatever comes,

Ready to engage with another and the space between you.

Remind yourself of your intention today in this work.

Feeling anchored to the earth,

To the sky above,

Supported by the wisdom and blessings of all those who came before,

Open and receptive to the unknown,

To what lies ahead,

You are ready to begin.

In your own time,

Open your eyes,

Take an awakening breath or any stretches that you need.

Thank you,

Go well and with love.
