I want to acknowledge that if you're listening right now,
You're probably going through a particularly challenging or overwhelming time in your life and are in need of getting back to the basics.
There are many studies on happiness and well-being,
And what they all point to are these four essential basics,
Sleep,
Exercise,
Meditation,
And social connection.
These are the foundations for happiness and well-being.
As we were going through the pandemic,
I leaned on these simple back to basic principles a lot because I was feeling so overwhelmed.
Of course,
There are many others that are correlated with happiness and well-being,
Such as forgiveness,
Novelty,
Self-compassion,
And a healthy diet.
But when you're overwhelmed,
It helps to maybe just draw on one or two basics as you find your center again.
You can always add more when you have more bandwidth.
So during this time,
We're going to do a simple visualization that will help you get back to basics and to know which one or two basics will work best for you.
So take a moment now to breathe deep.
And as you breathe deep,
Just drop into the center of your being,
That calm,
Quiet place right at the center of your body.
If you like,
You can place a hand over that area of your body to help you connect even deeper.
So breathe deep and connect.
Now that you're fully connected to your center,
I want you to go ahead and ask that place inside you,
That calm,
Quiet place,
Ask it,

And just allow that to bubble up from the center of your being.

And you will kind of just know that it's exactly what you need.

Just begin to move your body around and open your eyes.
