Today's guided meditation is geared to help you tune into and open up your root chakra energy center.

This energy center is located at the base of your spine and is known for helping you feel grounded and rooted,

Feeling safe,

Like you are connected to the earth.

There are times in the world and in our lives that can make us feel ungrounded,

Unsafe,

Like possibilities have come to a pause.

And this can close our root chakra and ultimately stop energy from flowing above and below.

When your root chakra is clear and open,

Regardless of what's going on,

You feel rooted like a beautiful oak tree that knows that storms may come,

But ultimately the roots are deep,

The branches are wide and that no storm can topple you over.

So right now I want you to find a comfortable place where you can tune into your body and access your root chakra.

Even if you're not super familiar with the chakra system,

You live in your body and you can find that connection.

When you're ready,

Gently close your eyes and just start noticing your breath.

Without trying to change it,

Just notice if you're breathing in a shallow way or if you're feeling any leftover tension,

Anxiety,

Fear,

Which tends to create less depth in our breathing.

So however deep you can take your breath,

Let that be okay right now.

As you continue breathing and feeling the coolness of the air come through your nose and feeling the warmth on your exhale,

Begin noticing any tension you might be holding in your body and just allow your breath to soften.

Allow the stillness and silence to soften any knots of tension in your body,

Noticing how on the in-breath your body expands and on the out-breath your muscles can soften.

Do this for the next three breaths in your own pace and your own rhythm.

As you continue breathing in your own pace,

Bring your attention and awareness to the root chakra located at the base of your spine.

Envision a small rosebud at the root and base of your spine.

This represents your root chakra and the potential that it has to open and receive and give the flow of energy.

Notice how it feels right now in your body.

Do you feel any tension in and around the base of your spine,

Perhaps in your lower back or even your thighs or your hips?

We can forget how energy and body are connected and interconnected.

By bringing attention and awareness,

We can start to release some of the tension that we've been holding.

Sometimes it's as simple as breathing and slowing down,

Allowing your nervous system to activate relaxed response.

That's exactly what you're doing right now in slowing down,

Focusing on your breath and tuning into your body.

Now in your mind's eye,

Envision this small red rosebud once again.

There's no right or wrong way to see it.

Now gently in your mind's eye,

Envision this rosebud beginning to open and grow in size while still remaining at the base of your spine.

Envision it growing in size as it opens each petal until it's a full,

Complete bloom,

Like the most beautiful,

The most red,

Most vibrant,

Fragrant rose filling up your entire energy center at the base of your spine,

Like an energetic hologram swirling from within your body,

Turning in a clockwise circle,

Opening your root chakra,

Allowing you to be more open to feeling grounded and rooted in the present moment.

As you feel the sensation of this fully open,

Fully in flow,

Beautiful rose open at your base chakra energy center,

Either in your mind's eye or out loud.

Repeat the following phrases.

I am deeply rooted.

I stand firm among storms.

I can stay true to myself regardless of what's going on around me.

I am rooted in myself yet flexible enough to grow.

I am grounded in the deep wisdom of the earth.

I am safe.

I am well.

I am rooted and growing.

Now take a nice deep breath,

Nice big sigh on the exhale.

You can stay in this place for as long as it serves you,

Enjoying the rootedness,

The open flow of your root chakra in the silence.
