IAT SE - Ch 29.2 Freedom To Do What One Likes Is Bondage
by Ekta Bathija
Listen to Ektaji guide us through a self-exploration meditation,“ Freedom to do what one likes is bondage.” from Chapter 29 of Nisargadatta Maharaj’s book I Am That. Notice how the “I” keeps clinging- first to the body, then to cravings, then to aversions. See how it seeks identity, reassurance, and validation in anything, and even when told to stop, it grasps again. Likes and dislikes are chains; the “I” survives only by holding on. Real freedom is not in chasing what you like or dodging what you dislike. Freedom is when the “I” stands alone- silent, without interference- honoring the flow as it is. Body, mind, and world move by themselves, while you remain the witness, untouched. True freedom is to do what must be done: simply be.
