Hi my friend.
Welcome into this moment.
This meditation is for you if you have experienced a loss of a person,
A place,
Or a thing,
Or an experience.
When something is no longer present in your life,
It can cause great waves of grief,
A void,
A longing,
A deep sadness.
If we resist our grief,
It will only grow.
And so here it is safe for you to feel and turn toward your grief.
Closing your eyes if that feels safe.
Breathing in slowly and exhale slower.
Remember your breath can support you as you feel and as you experience the grief,
The ache,
And your harm.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Every breath you take can regulate your nervous system.
Just like every tear that falls from your eyes,
It actually regulates your nervous system.
Inhale slow,
Exhale slower.
Just notice what is present within you.
What feelings are asking to be felt?
Notice the ache in your heart or the anger in your heart.
Notice everything that is swirling within you.
Can you finally give yourself the permission to feel?
To let it all out.
To feel is to heal.
Follow your breath in,
Follow your breath out.
The only way to live is to embrace grief.
For grief only exists where love lived first.
Where love lived first.
If it feels safe to you,
Gently visualizing what you are grieving or who you are grieving.
Allow the grief and the gratitude to coexist as you let your mind wander and visualize.
Breathe through the grief,
Knowing that it is here to invite you to feel,
To honor and cherish what is no longer.
Breathe with your grief.
Inhale,
Exhale.
Can you feel how you can stay grounded within your grief?
You can experience the waves of grief and stay standing.
Knowing that it's not here to break you down,
It's here to break you open.
Feeling it all.
Pema Chodron writes,
Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing.
We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem.
But the truth is that things don't really get solved.
They come together and they fall apart.
Then they come together again and fall apart again.
It's just like that.
The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen.
Room for grief,
For relief,
For misery,
For joy.
My friend,
Your grief is valid.
Your feelings make so much sense.
Follow your breath in,
Follow your breath out.
Grief is not a sign of weakness.
It is the price of great love.
And some things cannot be fixed.
They can only be carried.
Allow this grief to be a part of you.
You don't need solutions.
You don't need to move on from your grief.
You just need someone to acknowledge it.
You don't need to be alone.
You don't need to be alone.
You just need someone to acknowledge it.
You just need someone to see you,
To hold you.
That someone can be you.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Feeling the darkness and trust that there is still light.
Within you,
You hold the love,
The gratitude,
The memories.
Can you feel the warmth of that deep knowing?
You carry whatever you have lost in your heart.
What has gone can still live on in so many ways.
Inhale.
Exhale.
You are a resilient human.
What is it that you can hold on to today?
To navigate just this one day?
What would you need to hear?
What would you need to remember?
Follow your breath in.
Follow your breath out.
If it feels safe to you,
Wrapping yourself up in a hug.
Maybe swaying side to side.
Allowing yourself to really feel.
Feel the comfort of your own arms,
Your own energy.
I hope you know that every single breath you breathe is proof that you are finding your way in this.
Just when you thought you could not get any stronger,
You woke up this morning and realized you managed to hold on a little longer.
You managed to make it a little further than you ever thought you would.
And even though you cannot make sense of the shadows that always seem to find you,
You,
Merely breathing,
Has a sign of hope all on its own.
And you are never breathing alone.
Somehow,
We all inhale.
Somehow,
We all exhale.
We all sing that song.
Continuing to hold yourself,
Your heart.
Letting go of any expectations you have.
Allowing so much to coexist with your grief.
And take a moment to be really proud of yourself for letting yourself go there.
You are healing.
You are making it.
Breathe in.
Let it go.
Exhale.
Open your heart and your mind to receive a message from whatever has gone,
Whatever is no longer.
What would that person have to say to you in this moment?
Receive the message fully.
Let it meet your heart.
Let it feel you.
Feel into it.
And whisper thank you.
Thank you.
I love you.
And I am listening.
Breathe it in.
Breathe it out.
Take your sweet time.
Maybe rolling your shoulders.
Maybe rocking your head side to side.
Wiggling your fingers,
Your toes.
Moving the body so gently.
Moving this energy through.
As you carry on and take another step forward.
Inhale.
Open your heart.
Exhale.
Let it go.
From my heart to yours.
