Welcome to this meditation designed to enhance your sports performance,

To reduce pre-game stress and to help you access your peak abilities at crucial moments.

Find a quiet,

Comfortable place where you can sit or lie down without disturbances.

Close your eyes and take a few deep,

Calming breaths.

Inhale deeply through your nose,

Allowing your abdomen to rise,

And exhale slowly through your mouth,

Releasing any tension.

As you continue to breathe deeply,

Bring your focus to the present moment.

Feel the support of the ground beneath you,

Or the chair,

Or the couch,

Or the bed.

Feel the support,

And imagine roots extending from your body down into the earth,

Grounding and stabilising you.

With each breath,

Release any stress or anxiety.

Allow your body to relax completely,

Feeling a sense of calm and peace washing over you.

If your mind is racing,

Don't worry,

Just let it be,

Don't try to make it do anything.

It will soon calm down.

And if you're not feeling that sense of calm and peace right away,

Just give that time.

Don't try to make it happen,

Just allow it and it will.

Now,

Thinking back to a time when you performed exceptionally well in your sport.

There may be many times.

Just allow your unconscious mind to seek out all of those amazing times when you performed exceptionally well.

Visualise those moments,

Or that moment,

In vivid detail.

Be aware that your unconscious mind doesn't know the difference between what is real and what's imagined.

So when you're imagining or remembering something,

Your mind thinks it's actually happening.

So by going over and over all the brilliant times,

The amazing performances,

Or imagining them,

Your mind takes them as practice.

And you know the more you practice something,

The better you get at it.

So practice,

Visualise the most amazing events in your sporting life.

Recall the sights,

Sounds and sensations experienced.

Notice how confident,

Focused and powerful you felt.

Notice how your body is moving in all the ways it needs to.

Take all that into your mind as well.

Imagine these feelings growing stronger and more vibrant,

Filling your entire body with a sense of unstoppable confidence and capability.

So that any time you are playing a sport or taking part in a sport ever again,

All of these feelings come back to the surface.

And you experience them again and again and again,

But better and better every time.

Just allow all that to flow through your mind and body right now.

Inhaling all of it into every nerve and cell and fibre of your being.

So it's all around you and within you.

At this very moment and whenever you need it.

Just for a moment,

Turn your attention to any stress or anxiety you might have felt before a game or a tournament.

And acknowledge these feelings without any judgement.

Then imagine them being gently washed away by a wave of calm and relaxation.

And repeat in your mind,

Silently or out loud if you want.

I am calm,

Focused,

Ready to perform at my best.

I trust my training and my abilities.

I am in control of my mind and my body.

Any other positive affirmations that you might come up with right now,

Just repeat them in your mind or out loud.

And visualise a shield of calmness surrounding you.

Protecting you from any stress or negative thoughts.

Picture yourself in a crucial moment of your sport.

And see yourself performing with absolute precision.

The best you can possibly be.

With power.

With excellence.

Imagine your body moving effortlessly and your mind clear and focused.

Visualise yourself making the perfect play,

Shot or move.

Whatever it is you need to be doing in that moment.

And feel the rush of success and confidence as you achieve your best performance.

See it,

Feel it,

Hear it,

Everything.

Bring in all your senses to make this so real in your mind.

Feel that success and confidence as you achieve your best performance.

Repeat these affirmations to reinforce this mindset.

I am capable of greatness.

Over and over in your mind.

I perform at my peak when it matters most.

My mind and body work together seamlessly.

Any other statements that come to your mind that you need in these moments.

And imagine your subconscious mind storing this experience ready to bring it forward whenever you need it.

So whenever you need to perform like this,

Your subconscious mind will bring this forward as you need it.

Now instruct your brain and body to recall and utilise your best performances during actual games.

And visualise a switch in your mind labelled peak performance.

And imagine turning it on.

And as you turn it on,

You feel a surge of energy and confidence as your brain and body prepare to access your highest level of skill and focus.

And you can repeat silently or out loud.

My mind and body bring forth my best performances when I need them most.

I trust my subconscious mind to support me in every game.

I am always ready to perform at my highest level.

Feel this programming settling deeply into your subconscious and ready to activate at any crucial moment.

I am always ready to perform at my highest level.

And soon we'll conclude this meditation.

Take a few more deep breaths.

And to remind yourself to be mindful of your self care all the time but especially when you have a game.

Prioritising your sleep,

Your nutrition and your positive thought processes.

So that you can be the absolute best that you can be.

Feel the confidence,

Calmness and readiness within you.

Know with every fibre of your being that you have the power to perform at your best and that your brain and body are prepared to support you.

When you are ready,

Slowly and gently bring your awareness back to the present moment.

You can bring movement to your hands and your feet,

Slowly awakening the body.

Maybe stretch if you need to.

And in your own time allowing those eyes to open.

You have the ability to perform at your best and your mind and body are here to support you.
