The tree visualization is a wonderful practice to start to experience something within yourself that you may never have experienced before.
This can be seen as visual imagery or felt in the body as sensations or emotions and this can change as you evolve and get more in touch with your inner essence.
So I would encourage you to continue practicing this as you work through the book.
To begin,
Sit comfortably either in a chair or on a cushion,
Ensuring your back is supported and if you're in a chair,
Ensure that your feet are flat on the floor.
Closing your eyes,
Taking your attention within.
Notice where within is for you as this is different for everyone.
Taking your attention to your breath,
Breathing right down into your stomach.
You'll know that you're doing this when both your chest and your stomach rise,
Ensuring that you don't take in any extra air but the air that you do breathe in flows down through you and again back out through your nose.
So breathing in and out of your nose,
Just practicing this breath.
Relaxing through your body.
I'd like you to imagine that you're walking in a beautiful meadow.
The grass is long and the sound of nature fills your senses.
The sound of the birds and the insects.
The gentle breeze against your skin and the warmth of the sun shining down on you.
And as you walk through the meadow,
You notice ahead of you is a row of trees and you'll find yourself drawn to one particular tree.
It seems like it's calling you and it feels familiar.
So allowing yourself to continue walking until you are stood in front of this tree.
Notice what this tree is like.
Notice the bark,
How wide the trunk is and how tall the tree is.
Looking up,
Noticing perhaps the sun shining through the leaves.
And as you bring your attention back down to what you see in front of you,
You become aware of the strength of the roots of the tree reaching down into the earth.
I'd like you to imagine that you're stepping into this tree and notice what you see there.
What does it feel like?
What does it look like?
See if you can notice the qualities found inside the tree.
Taking a moment to really enjoy being in this space like.
And when you're ready,
Stepping back out of the tree.
Looking at the tree again and being grateful for this experience.
And turning and walking back across the meadow.
Retracing your steps.
Back to where you started.
And when you're ready,
Taking a couple of deeper breaths.
Opening your eyes.
Coming back to the room that you're in.
Awareness of your body.
Moving your fingers and toes.
And after you've taken a moment,
I would encourage you to either write this down or draw what you've seen.
Writing your experience.
