Hi,
This is Beth.
Thank you for joining me for this meditation.
To bounce back.
From the everyday stress of life.
Please sit comfortably,
Whether you're on the floor or in a chair.
And take a moment to become aware of how that chair or floor is supporting your body.
Feel the force of gravity rising up from beneath you to hold your body lovingly in support of this practice.
Your hands may be in a mudra.
Or palms up or palms down on your lap.
If your hands are in a mudra.
Can you feel how the structure,
The form of your fingers is supporting your practice?
And if your hands are simply face up or face down on your lap.
Can you get a sense of the very center of the palms feeling open.
Feeling relaxed.
We spend so much time during our day.
Using our hands to grip,
Hold.
Push,
Pull.
Allow all of the energy your hands have been holding.
To dissolve.
In the light of your awareness.
And as you let go through the hands.
Feel that same force,
That same will to let go.
Moving up your arms and into your shoulders.
Allow your shoulders to melt away from your ears and return to their natural state.
Resting downward toward gravity.
Without pushing.
Without effort.
This melting sense continues now up into the neck.
And face.
So tension held,
And either the right or the left of the neck began to melt.
And those big muscles at the jaw.
Also start to melt and release.
All of the words that were held back.
All of the thoughts that weren't expressed.
All of that old energy dissolving in the light of your awareness.
Tongue softening within the mouth,
Touching the top palate lightly.
Now any tension around the sinuses.
Eyes,
Temples,
Forehead.
Softening.
Even the ears.
Dropping a little bit towards gravity.
As the skin on the crown of the head and skull.
Also moves back a little behind you and down.
And even as this happens,
There is a very deep inner force that is lifting you up and out into an even prouder,
Taller posture.
Allow again this melting force to move down now all around the heart.
So that anything you've been holding there or barricading there can also begin.
To dissolve.
In this moment,
You don't need the self-protection.
It's safe to soften.
The softening continues now.
Down into the belly.
As you feel even more now.
That force of breath as it moves in and out of your lungs.
And as the diaphragm lowers to accommodate the breath and then rises back.
All very natural.
Without force,
Without effort.
And now this softening force continues down the legs.
Letting go of all the tension from running around,
Rushing through your day,
Going to and fro,
Trying to stay on schedule.
Running from one crisis or one task to another.
Let all of it go.
Let it drain and drain and drain down the knees,
Calves,
Ankles,
Feet and toes.
Become aware of the whole body now,
More relaxed.
Softer.
More present.
And just know that whatever arises in the remaining time we have together,
It's okay.
If tension creeps back in,
If there's some worry or concern that flashes before the mind's eye,
Give it space,
But don't attach,
Don't follow.
You're here to rest.
If memories of your day or week surface.
It's okay,
Again,
Just make space for them.
But let them go.
You don't have to follow them or think more deeply upon them.
You can pick them up again when we're done,
But for now,
Allow yourself to rest.
Same with concerns of the future.
See the pull.
Get curious about what it is.
That makes the mind constantly think and worry and control and strategize and analyze.
And notice that you're apart from that function.
You're the witness to that function.
And you have a say.
In where your attention goes.
We'll sit quietly now for another minute together.
And when the meditation is complete.
.
.
You'll hear the sound of a gentle bell.
At that time.
Take your time to come back to your waking state.
